Re: Stinger MKII Rebuild
One possibility is you might have just a tad too much oil in the shock body. What I do is fill up the body with just a bit too much oil, then when you press down on the rubber diaphragm, it squishes out the extra oil...wipe it up and screw the cap on. That usually gets it right, but if it still deco...

Re: Disable Ignition
Try to join a forum dedicated to your particular vehicle. You'll get tons of the most relevant advice, specific to your vehicle. If you're lucky, they will have links to download those expensive OEM service and parts manuals. I'm on a forum dedicated to each car I own and you won't get any better in...

Re: Where are they now?
Dan had strong opinions but I learned long ago that he was usually right. He was like an encyclopedia of knowledge of vintage RC and I'll miss the entire chapters of text he'd write in his forum posts, there was a lot to learn from him. I don't know what happened but his wealth of knowledge and expe...

Re: Car#3 RC10DS “DragMaster”
That looks great, KidAgain, but with a track width that wide, and wheelbase that short, I'd be really concerned about how twitchy it's gonna steer...that's not something you'll want with a straight-line drag car.

Re: Car#3 RC10DS “DragMaster”
Does the motor get hot with pinion gear removed, just spinning on a car stand? If yes, connect a different motor and repeat the test. If only one motor gets hot, chances are it's the motor at fault. If both get hot, chances are it's NOT the motor, and troubleshooting continues. Probably the ESC, tho...

Re: Universal shaft database?
Here's a start; I researched this a bunch while I built my various Optima resto-mods, especially CYANide and Barney. Those cars have GPM alloy rear arms that are a bit longer than stock arms. -62.5 mm bones/U-joints/CVDs: This is stock Optima/Ultima bone length, from crosspin-to-crosspin. U-joints a...

Modding Conqueror 1/18 Crawler
I recently picked up one of these 1/18-scale RC crawlers for my daughter. I'm not sure if she'll be into RC so I wanted to start off with something inexpensive, mod it as much as I could, and see how it ends up. These crawlers are all over eBay and Amazon, AliExpress and wherever, under a hundred di...

Re: Turbo Ultima rebuild
Nice work so far. A great way to strengthen a body is to apply drywall mesh tape to the inside with Shoe Goo. I read about that tip on RCTech.net and strengthened the whole bottom front and rear of my CYANide 'Cuda body that way, after painting it.

Re: Turbo Ultima rebuild
Thanks! The crappy photos hide most of the flaws. That’s a great tip about using drywall tape and Shoe Goo and I was planning to use it here but my tube of Shoe Goo had dried out and I wasn’t up for a trip into town to buy a new tube so I’ve used the packing tape instead. By the way, that same mesh...

Re: Rise from your grave!
Wow that is a clean car! Ok, so if I were to follow your route with the parts you used, is there anything else I would need to do to the car to prepare it for the new tech? What would be a less powerful motor than what you have, a 13 or 14T? Oh and I noticed my tires are shot. Are these specialty t...

Re: First one I ever had... 2019 Turbo Optima re-re build
I just tried a Marwan OT-66 tyre on a re-release Turbo Optima wheel and it fitted well. I didn't use the foam inserts or the inner beadlock band. I'm not sure if you'd need either one as the OT-66's are harder than the re-release kit tyres. FYI, might be an idea to warm the tyre up before fitting i...

Re: First one I ever had... 2019 Turbo Optima re-re build
That paint job turned out very nice. Maybe the darker red makes the Kyosho gold num-nums stand out a bit more, which is a good thing!
