Re: Bored? Come To The Chit / Chat Thread

I was out of RC by '05 or '08, somewhere in there. I got out of it about the same time. I was mostly into crawlers at that point; before there were actual crawler kits available. Outside of a couple of outrunners I had for crawler rigs, I had one brushless set up, and that was an early Novak system...

Re: Bored? Come To The Chit / Chat Thread

All this motor talk, are brushless motors still a thing in RC? I believe they were more for racing than crawling because they're more a high speed/low torque motor. Once you get away from vintage, crawlers, and basic RTR's, they are pretty much the thing. I believe that brushed motors offer better ...

Re: Bored? Come To The Chit / Chat Thread

Finally had some time this weekend to get back into the workshop. Pretty much done and actually started moving some stuff in. Still need to pipe some compressed air in, and maybe install a through the wall EF I have had sitting around. There are a couple of processes I won't to do in this room that ...

Re: Bored? Come To The Chit / Chat Thread

Go ahead, use that logic on her, I'm sure it will go well in your favor.  Ya see, I could go that route, but we have this little agreement where she spends her money on her stuff, and I spend my money on my stuff .................... and I don't want to do anything to jeopardize that li...

Re: Getting the big Fairlane back on the road.... Going the whole 9 inches

I finally had some motivation so I installed the driveshaft. I was paranoid that it was too long but it's actually pretty good. I also filled the diff with some Torco non friction modified racing oil, so all that's left to do is bleed the rear brakes and it's drivable again, however, I'll install al...

Re: So for my "first" beer tonight...

I hate when Busch Light has their cammo cans out. I set my beer down while doing yard work and now I can't find the damn thing. :?

Re: Picture of the day. (Taken by you)

I took this pic yesterday while trying to get back in the habit of getting my steps in during the day. This would be from the south side of Potterfield Bridge looking north across the James River to what would be considered the western portion of downtown Richmond, Va. The bridge itself is kinda coo...

Re: RC10Talk - Celebrating 19 Years!

I can't remember for sure if the backstory has ever been posted on here before but there is the 'About us' page that gives the gist of it: https://www.rc10talk.com/aboutus Yes, I've been involved since the very start. If you view the member list I was one of the first members to create an account up...

someone owns this domain and then presumably he makes money from ad revenue like everything else? Do moderators make money on this like YouTube chat? Figure this is a "safe" place to ask my clueless question  I don't think there's any money being made here, just trying to bring in en...

Back In My Day ..................

Just throwing this out there to see if it gains steam. I feel there is a general age frame that 75%+ of us are in, and we are getting that point in life. :D I know I have loads of these at this point, but I am just going one by one. Back in my day, I walked to kindergarten when I was 4 1/2 years old...

Re: Back In My Day ..................

We didn't get kindergarten until the next year. My sister went but I didn't start school until first grade. My school also didn't do the "in between" thing. You were either of age or you weren't, so I had to wait a year (missed by a week). My cousin was a month older than me but a year ahe...

Re: Back In My Day ..................

My main back in my day thing was riding my bike everywhere. Miles from my house, no helmet or reflectors. Especially to vhs rental places to get horror movies. Oh, and buying throwing stars from Cutlery World in the mall at 12.

Re: Back In My Day ..................

I don't have a lot of specific stories to tell, just that we had total freedom back then. We could go pretty much anywhere at any time as long as we were home before dark. We never got into any trouble and no one ever bothered us. I especially remember that there was a store about 2 miles from my gr...
