Toys in the Attic

Hi all. Glad to have found this site, I have a few vintage RC's that I dug out recently, and I need 30 meaningful posts in order to request an extremely hard to find part, or to get in to the B/S/T. Theme music for this post: GNbVW12E_Sc Help me RC10Talk, you're my only hope: https://bavatuesdays.co...

RC10gt MIP Shiny CVD - Any way to repair?

The last time I ran my RC10gt, decades ago, a rock or something got in between the bone and the arm, and did this:

Stretched out the pin hole, and cracked the bell:

Can this be welded or repaired?

Re: RC10gt MIP Shiny CVD - Any way to repair?

That's great news to hear there is a cross-compatible MIP Shiny bone that would work. The one in the pics above is 87mm, and I've not found another that close yet. I do still have some of the black CVD's still. I believe that's a kit original on the left that would've come with this: https://i.imgur...

Re: RC10gt MIP Shiny CVD - Any way to repair?

Turns out a user here on RC10Talk had the exact Shiny CVD bone I was looking for, I won't have to try and repair the cracked one now.

Thanks so much!

RC10 Gold Pan - C stamp?

I'm about to cleanup my RC10 after all these years. You don't hear much about the C stamp gold pan. Does anyone know any more about the C-stamp era? I bought this from Wold's House of Hobby's in Dublin, CA, in late '96. Never painted or mounted the RC10 body/driver, might have the wing somewhere too...

Re: we all have big toys too don't we? show off your ride!

Had this '66 Bus for 34 years now, bought it three days after my 17th birthday - it was double side-swiped and had a seized motor; people thought I was crazy to have spent $600 for it in late '89. https://i.imgur.com/r4cQ3Qg.jpg https://i.imgur.com/mcJUnzp.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Ods4ljm.jpg?1 https...

Re: RC10 Gold Pan - C stamp?

Found what I was looking for. Love this site. THE RC10 CHAMPIONSHIP CAR (STEALTH) 1992-96 https://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?p=124342#p124342 The Late Black Stealth RC10CE This was the very last production of the gold pan and was made even during the RC10B2 production run! Re: RC10 Gold Pan - C stamp?

As luck would have it, I have a large bottle of Naptha that I used for guitar necks/fretboard inlay repair. https://i.imgur.com/PcQKQAx.jpg https://i.imgur.com/TDTJK6j.jpg https://i.imgur.com/l0Xeldn.jpg Also worked incredibly well on that tape: https://i.imgur.com/OUKCyC0.jpg Switch tape too: https...

Re: RC10 Gold Pan - C stamp?

Let's see it with the bus body! Never thought I would hear that request, here, I figured most thought it was heresy or blasphemy to run an aftermarket body on an RC10. Here's the last shots of the '63 Parma VW Surf Delivery Panel Bus on the RC10, that a friend custom masked the windows to mak...

(2) RC10GT's - Black Tub and Plastics - #7065

Bought this RC10 GT kit in '97 or so, if anyone knows what year it's from, please let me know. Bought this at Wold's House of Hobbies, in Dublin, CA, along with the radio and all of the upgrades. https://i.imgur.com/u6xxvxT.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Nyfm7Eq.jpg https://i.imgur.com/MKmrF1Z.jpg https://...

Re: RC10 GT - Black Pan and Plastics

A 4 oz. ball peen hammer and a pin punch work nice. Or a jeweler's hammer, they go from 3 oz down to 1 oz. Then as Happy Gilmore said... just give it a tap, tap, tap-a-roo. :D This pin seems like it's too good for its home . EkOxJF1wiWY Do you know if those pins would be considered 1/16...

Re: RC10 Gold Pan - C stamp?

This is why it was gritty in there, looks like green dirt and oil. https://i.imgur.com/vGgBMq6.jpg Barely drove this, so not sure how it was that bad. Remove bushings, install bearings and fresh diff lube. https://i.imgur.com/OinAHN8.jpg Cleaning up. https://i.imgur.com/pFUAcHu.jpg https://i.imgur.c...

Re: RC10 Gold Pan - C stamp?

In order to remove the bushings, the roll pin pliers came in handy. https://i.imgur.com/6kcQFnC.jpg But getting the pin all of the way out, without damaging anything, is where the punch kit came in handy: https://i.imgur.com/mqubRBD.jpg The big punch made getting the hub bushings out easier too, the...

Re: RC10 Gold Pan - C stamp?

Found this in the manual, regarding the included shock oil #5414, they say the #5422 silicone is better. https://i.imgur.com/nHK7gvr.jpg I somehow have a spare set of shocks, not sure how, but the spares on the left have less wear. https://i.imgur.com/r0DiCWz.jpg I have always been running the slip ...

Re: RC10 Gold Pan - C stamp?

Front end was pretty bad. I was so lucky to find a bag full of shock mount parts that were brand new, bolts, washers, nuts, couldn't believe it. The new hardware really made a difference. Starting off ugly. https://i.imgur.com/H9Ql2mB.jpg Used more simple green and longest time setting, with better ...
