Re: The Giant RPM part number thread

That is pretty cool! I was racing the molded chassis and developed that kit. The chassis kit had been out for a while but sales had slowed so we never put it in the catalog and subsequently it was typically not sold to or sent to distributors. The enhancement kit was usually sent out if someone cont...

Re: The Giant RPM part number thread

sadly, my memory of the details is not what it used to be and I didn't document what I did...I started working at RPM shortly after the car kit came out. In the std "worlds" config, the front end had too much droop and tire scrub. It would work ok on loose fluffy tracks but gave up a lot a...

Re: Ivan Stewart Toyota replica

Not sure what direction you are taking with this...the pics you posted of Ivan's truck are the desert racing version. He also raced a reg cab in the Mickey Thompson shortcourse series and there is a ton of detailed info if you follow the link...if that helps or simply makes for good reading on racin...

Re: Bud's Motor Dyno

That's what I remember from the 80s....it never told rpm, just a random # that u had to use as a reference point...still classic tho Yeah, I had one, probably still have it around here somewhere...it worked great for determining motor performance when custom cutting brushes and matching springs or ...

Re: Another A&L team truck prototype build

Yeah #4 is currently in my care and these posts are definitely reminding of the work that needs to be done...lol...thanks for that Adam...I wonder who raced the trucks and which truck Brian Peterson (sp) was racing? And by the way, your dad would be so happy to know you are doing this, makes me happ...

Re: Rpm rc10bum

Very cool find! The car kit is indeed reasonably rare, the truck kit was released at the height of the truck racing craze and overshadowed the buggy kit sales by quite a bit. As far as making it a runner, personally I would choose something else but that is up to you. If you have any questions, plea...

Re: Rpm rc10bum

Do you happen to have a parts list of what came in the kit? Do you know the years of release? How was yours fitted out when it raced? Thanks. [/quote] We dropped the buggy kit from the 95 catalog so my guess would be 93-94 but would have to do some research to know for sure. I raced it pretty much s...

Re: Give a pro driver a crappy car experiment

as long as the crappy car stayed together, they would be reasonable competitive. Track time and experience really goes a long way. One time, back in the ol days, I won an outdated Losi "Junior" buggy in a raffle at a local So Cal series race and decided to race it, bushings and all until I...

Re: Give a pro driver a crappy car experiment

You won an off-road race with an on-road car? Please provide more details about that crazy story. Even with decent tires, that would seem to be BIG handicap! The track was an indoor, hardpack track...not blue groove but hard. At that time, the sedan tire wars had not started and at the parking lot ...
