Re: Need some tech advice re: Turbo Optima gear upgrading
In my opinion, I think you shouldd leave the metric 0.8 module (just about the same as US 32p) gear set on there. The various US 48p gear sets that were offered made pinion gear selection easier, but they didn't strengthen the drive train; the original gears are pretty strong. I've run 12 and 10 tur...

Re: Need some tech advice re: Turbo Optima gear upgrading
hello Marc, Kyosho made 3 types of top shafts for the optima / ultima series: 1. Threaded on the end - This was used on the early optimas. It acted like a slipper clutch, by allowing the outside gear to spin. While this was a nice idea, the threaded part of the shaft was 3mm and it broke if it was t...

Coel's Stalls
Topic Revised: March 2015 My original Gallery post was quite outdated and I figured could use some streamlining. I joined this forum after digging my old Kyosho Optima out of storage and decided to restore it. I removed some googly-eyes stickers that were cute at the time, but seemed childish now. ...

Re: Need help identifying a body
This one is as Reggie & Ryan both said #6171 Nissan GTP, Fr: 230mm, 9" Rear: 235mm, 9.25" , you are correct the NPT is #6128 1992 Nissan GTP, Fr: 215mm, 8.5" Rear: 235mm, 9.25". I verified it on the old Associated site in the Web Archive http://classic-web.archive.org/web/199...

Re: Need help identifying a body
Thanks to everyone for all the help, I didn't want to miss out so I took a chance and scored a nip 6171 off the bay. Looks like I got lucky and picked the right one :D They were Parma stickers #10717. I think they will work on this body and the NPT one also. I have bunches of em. You don't say, we m...

Re: Just a fun project RC10l Drag car.
Lots of things there that can't handle that type of voltage. As someone who has run over 100 mph with a 20-round cell Top Fuel car in the late 80s, and has also raced electric drag cars in the 21st Century, there are a few things you can do to help. First, a diff is N O T a slipper. A properly set u...

Re: Just a fun project RC10l Drag car.
If you want a straight-line car, RJ Speed makes good, inexpensive kits, as well as Grand Motorsports (shown above). Can't go wrong with either. For the foams, if they are old and dried out, a couple soakings of tire sauce like Paragon will bring them right back. Short of having Paragon around, massa...

Re: New Optima Build: Project CYANide - Finished!
I can finally say Project CYANide is completed! This took over 8 months to finish, several months more than I expected, but I'm happy with the final product...an Optima like no other! Tonight I found the time to take the final "money shots". Thanks to all who followed this thread, helped m...

Trinity Vintage motor slot brushes
This is a Trinity vintage motor using slot brushes. Infact the complete hardware on the endbell is different. From my knowledge this is one of the legendary motors made by Big Jim Greenemeyer when he worked at Trinity.

Re: Robbe Kyosho Le Mans 240S motor
The winding is 19x1. Turbo Optima and in Salute had this motor in to box but originally this is very old motor. I found one interesting pic a few days ago about 240S. This pic is from Kyosho mini gatalog from 1986 and like everybody knows, Optima's promo pics to box and catalogs there is standard 54...

Re: Some specific questions about FlySky GT3B Setup
Wow, nobody?? :? I figured out how to set the end-points on my own with more trial-and-error. So, in case anyone else happens across this topic and wants to know how to reduce or increase your servo travel, here's what you do (you can increase throw above 100% if you want more travel): -Go into the ...
