Re: ** Build of the Month Contest - April 2021 ** Winner - TheDiamondOne
In the event of a tie, I say that you defer to "rules of cool" for vintage rc's. We all know them. - Electronics are better than not having them. - Vintage electronics are better than modern, just saying. - Clean/neat wiring obviously trumps messy wiring. - A nice runner is cooler than a s...

Re: First time RC12L resto.
I don't know what motor is appropriate, but I'd say that it deserves a Reedy motor. Putting anything else in it would be blasphemy.

Hex axle option
Looking at the B4/SC10 steering blocks (#9880), I noticed that the bearings were only slightly smaller than 5X10X3 mm bearings. I reamed the steering blocks with a 25/64 drill bit by hand. The fit on the 10mm bearings is tight. I also had to open up the center enough to allow the axle to pass throug...

Re: Help with ID of an RC10 A stamp (Now with pictures and fixed spelling!!!)
https://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=13059 Cadillac isn't a type of car, it was the name of the street that it was produced on. Most RC10's through the B3 (?) were produced on Cadillac ave. The white idle gears indicate that it (or they) is an earlier model, however they were still prod...

Re: Help with ID of an RC10 A stamp (Now with pictures and fixed spelling!!!)
These cars were around for a long time, so parts could have easily been changed. But from what I see, I want to say ~87-88. That is the newer style msc but the rear bulkhead uses the long wing tubes. I think that the rear shock tower is supposed to be a single hole version. It could be one from a ne...

Re: Radio opinions
Nothing like modern stuff, but you can lower the profile some. https://m.traxxas.com/products/parts/1926 I'm sure that most of us don't run surface vehicles out anywhere near the range limits of vintage radios. Hell, I doubt most can see that far anymore. On some of my stuff, the antenna is inside t...

Re: ** Build of the Month Contest - May 2021 ** - Winner - LTO_Dave
This actually the first Team Associated vehicle that I ever bought. No restoration here, just a clean and well maintained Team Truck. It's pretty much a unmodified white arm truck. The only exceptions to stock are the Andy's bumper, RPM gear cover, and Losi rear tires. The body is a JConcepts reprod...

Re: Tires?!
I have BSR wheels and tires on a couple cars. They were available and reasonably priced, which fit my needs.
Also check CRC. They have foams but the RT1 tires look awesome.

Re: Hex axle option
For a budget hex conversion for trucks (haven't tried on cars), you can use the cheap and readily available parts for 2WD Traxxas trucks (Slash, Rustler, and Stampede). The front track width is slightly narrower than the Associated parts. All that is required is to open up the caster blocks with a 1...

Re: Another ebay rescue
Since I decided to make this one a definite runner, I figured spending time and money on a new body probably wasn't worth it. So it got a hand-me-down body from my Team Truck and a new 3D printed bumper. For being nearly 30 years old, I don't think that the body looks too bad.

A short arm car should only have one hole per side for shock mounting. It could be a newer tower or it could have been modified at some point.
All of my older ones have been drilled for additional holes as well, its very common.

Re: Ebay graphite purchase
Got to the transmission and things got interesting. I opened it up and found a full host of aftermarket parts and mods. Thorp 48p gear set, diff tube with bearing, Trackmaster long diff shaft, and the outdrive bearing mod. I'd never seen the carriers and only recently heard about the shaft. It looks...

Re: So what did you get in the post today ???
Nice score. I'm not actively searching for one but I do kinda watch for them.
