Re: Marui Hunter - My first buggy... Found one to restore :-) - and a Galaxy RS too :)
That sounds like a plan! Yea, there are lots of different ways you can use those arms, but i do recommend using the screw and ball bearing method, so the chassis doesnt wear out in use. With MJF-printing the "stock style" should also be good, even without the reinforcement screw. As for th...

Re: Kyosho Ultima RT5 3D printed custom chassis
Just finished printing the rear motor support parts Rear motor installation: Starting point: https://hitecmods.kuvat.fi/kuvat/RC/Ultima%20RT5%20Service%20Pack/20211106_073039.jpg/_medium.jpg Then goes the 2mm shim plate: https://hitecmods.kuvat.fi/kuvat/RC/Ultima%20RT5%20Service%20Pack/20211106_0731...

Re: Ultima RT5 modernized custom 3D printed chassis.
Tested if its possible to fit sideways Shorty pack to this chassis. Its tight, because of the chassis profile, but possible. Ideally with this configuration you would want to use low profile (16mm height) 2S LiPo. https://hitecmods.kuvat.fi/kuvat/RC/Ultima%20RT5%20Service%20Pack/REV7%20v76%20sideway...

Re: Ultima RT5 modernized custom 3D printed chassis.
Midmotor (Laydown) parts. Mainly rear laydown bulkhead and waterfall brace. This was easy (bulkhead still needs some final touches): https://hitecmods.kuvat.fi/kuvat/RC/Ultima%20RT5%20Service%20Pack/REV7%20laydown%20parts.png/_medium.jpg Managed to implement support for sideways battery with chassis...

Re: Ultima RT5 modernized custom 3D printed chassis.
Have been super busy this week, so not a lot of RC-stuff done. Managed to design a motor plate for laydown. This one was pretty tight fit to do with 3D printing. With slipper eliminator, i could add more material to the motor plate, but with slipper the 3mm plate thickness is the thickest possible. ...

Re: Ultima RT5 modernized custom 3D printed chassis.
Just received the Team Orion 2S Shorty Pack (6200 Graphene LiPo, big thanks to hobbyfactory.fi for quick service!), so did a quick weight balance check with laydown and battery position maxed to front + Robitronic Razer Ten 4000kV motor. Test was done without ESC and Receiver and without rear bumper...

Re: Ultima RT5 modernized custom 3D printed chassis.
Thank you! I´m very pleased how this looks and feels so far. Cant wait to test drive it! Unfortunately i ordered wrong battery cable for this shorty pack (with 4mm connectors, when the battery has 5mm bullet connectors), so i cant test it until i find some 5mm bullet connectors somewhere.

Re: Ultima RT5 modernized custom 3D printed chassis.
Quickly designed a rear wheel hub. Its a rough design as this will be the most problematic part for FDM printing, to make this durable. Stock geometry, but added some "beef" around it and also made it 2 piece. I didnt try to make it pretty at this stage. I just wanted to make a initial par...

Re: Ultima RT5 modernized custom 3D printed chassis.
Thank you USAPaulo for your feedback! Im also eager to see how the consumer grade 3D printing is evolving when some years pass by. I've been thinking of buying resin printer for smaller/detailed parts, but the only thing thats holding me back is the durability of the parts. So im waiting for a bette...

Re: Ultima RT5 modernized custom 3D printed chassis.
First test drive done and it was a success! Test setup was 2S shorty lipo, robitronic razer ten 4000kv motor, 60A ESC, 17t pinion, 4 gear laydown with gear diff + silicone oil (cannot remember what weight), stock RT5 front tires, JConcept pin downs in rear and main chassis without the flex adjuster ...

Re: Ultima RT5 modernized custom 3D printed chassis.
Thanks for the reply! Yea, i think so too. I could not find this scale of customization project posted anywhere, but im pretty sure someone has done something like this, just haven´t posted it anywhere. I´ve done some small adjustments here and there. I added a small groove on the rear side of the c...

Re: Ultima RT5 modernized custom 3D printed chassis.
Just printed "the latest and greatest" from Fillamentum Wizard's Voodoo PLA. As its from PLA, its not driveable. https://hitecmods.kuvat.fi/kuvat/RC/Ultima%20RT5%20Service%20Pack/20211121_174409.jpg/_medium.jpg Its actually still almost fully compatible with RB5/RT5/SC front end. Only the ...

Re: Ultima RT5 modernized custom 3D printed chassis.
I think i dont actually do a lot of test prints nowadays. When i started with cad in a about 1,5-2 years ago, i needed a lot of test prints for multiple reasons. First one was still being new with the design program and 3D printing itself and the second one was that different filaments need differen...

Re: Ultima RT5 modernized custom 3D printed chassis.
Completed the design in some of the smaller parts. Because RT6/SC6 use such a different shock tower in rear motor configuration, i cant use the stock midmotor rear shock tower in rear motor configuration design i have, because there is a a slight cleanrance problem with the motor plate and the stock...
