Re: The "Golden Age of RC" meaning
There's clearly two ways to view this , statistical popularity and personal involvement . For me the early days of the 80s were golden , cars were often crude in design and many popular design concepts of the time were later abandoned , trailing arms and mono shocks were king , there was room for ev...

Re: The "Golden Age of RC" meaning
Using Dadio's "two ways" theory. I view the golden age as being when I was involved in the hobby from introduction until I left for military service. So '87ish to '93ish. RCCA, trips to the hobby shop, finding workarounds for broken parts in the oldman's shop, Sundays at the track then win...

Re: my RC tires leave black marks everywhere any solution?
The tires sound like they might be natural rubber. I can't remember the actual component.....but when I did fleet maintenance, there was some damn rubber component/part that I.......bingo, it was air intake pipes/boots. They would get kinda chalky from time-to-time... Long story short, I would scrub...

Re: my RC tires leave black marks everywhere any solution?
Just the rubber oxidizing, even silicone oxidizes. Any automotive tire shine should work. I prefer Mothers 16915 Speed Tire Shine. Rubbed in and wiped off tires/parts look new rather than just shiny. Or you could encapsulate the tire by spraying it with clear plasti-dip or similar, which is removeab...

Re: my RC tires leave black marks everywhere any solution?
It seems like the preferred stuff to coat rubber R/C tires with is 303 Aerospace protectant. You have to be careful with what you use as some rubber protection products will actually cause the rubber to degrade.

Re: my RC tires leave black marks everywhere any solution?
Here's what I did to store my finished cars; cheap, looks great and keeps those tires off the ground...a bunch of dollar-store clear plastic containers, with strips of foam tape stuck on the tops. I second the suggestion to use 303 Aerospace Protectant on any plastic, vinyl and rubber. https://www.r...

It's 1984 Xmas morning in Nov 2023!
Well I accidentally rediscovered RC10 after almost 40 years. I was never lucky enough to get one back when then but man did I beg! So I bought this beautifully never run chassis w a Edinger box that I'm going to build and display. I've gotten the bug and have a few more used ones coming that I'm goi...

Brian Kinwald Rear Shock tower 93 worlds
Last night I did a test cut for a Brian Kinwald 93 worlds style rear shock tower as close as I can reasonably get it I think. Let me know what you think.

Re: 2023 IFMAR 1:10 Off-Road Race thoughts?
I wasnt there but from watching it online, it didnt seem to have the worlds "feel" that most worlds have....just my perspective. I know a few people that have raced there and they say you need to bring your tire A game to compete there. On a side note I bought a used B6.3 from a friend who...

Re: 2023 IFMAR 1:10 Off-Road Race thoughts?
Not in person, YouTube like you mentioned. Something I found interesting was the "tire debacle". I guess they issued a set amount of tires per racer for the entire event, across classes (4wd and 2wd), There was some heartburn over mounted tires brought vs. later sanctioned tires issued......

Re: 2023 IFMAR 1:10 Off-Road Race thoughts?
The R/C hobby has a long history to look back on of how tires can destroy racing. I have been through a couple of tire wars that all but killed the classes and in my opinion, open tire rules do not work for anybody.

Derustification the Frankentruck way
I don't have an ultrasonic cleaner yet, but wanted to get this B3 buggy cleaned up. Yes I know it's missing 1 dog bone. Other than that, it's practically new. My kid would say it's lit and I'm cap. Thanks? 😁 . PXL_20231201_155450644~2.jpg . PXL_20231201_164101195~2.jpg . My required materials and eq...

Re: 2023 IFMAR 1:10 Off-Road Race thoughts?
I think a control tire that, frankly, doesn't work very well (as in low grip) would be good. It would be the same for everyone and would promote better racing. Cars sliding away from the apex creates passing opportunities. The super high grip we have now is why many races are won in qualifying. Also...
