Re: Tamiya New Beetle FF01 front wheel drive fun

For a car that was last produced in 2000, that thing is clean!

And thanks for posting. It has inspired me to break out my FF03 Honda EF-9, and hopefully finish it up. It has been sitting around like this for way too long! :(

Re: Tamiya New Beetle FF01 front wheel drive fun

Reminds me of one of my most favorite fun build runners. I built it back when it was new, a TA02 S10 pre-runner. Then what now feels like a lifetime ago I cleaned it up and transformed it into my basement drifter. Way too much fun with both front and rear locked with basically plastic Hpi drift tire...

Re: Tamiya Blackfoot , Monster Beetle, Mud Blaster, build tips for you

Bringing back memories, I fell in love with the Blackfoot when I first had seen the Tamiya ad in a magazine in ‘86 or ‘87. I do remember those half shafts stripping out quite easily though.

Another huge improvement is switching to monster beetle tires. Its a game changer. It has a way softer compound. Even with spikes worn off its 3 times the traction.

Re: anyone offer RC10 aluminum cutting services?

Unless you are just set on modifying what you have, I prefer the look of the JConcepts plate.

The machined edges and honeycomb milling are nice.

Re: RIP Ernie Provetti (Trinity)

What was Ernie like? Seemed like a garrulous, friendly, larger-than-life kind of character. Looks like he could be intimidating if he was mad lol. I only know him through the old school RC magazine photos from old. He was pretty gruff and take no prisoners on his forum in the early days. Don't know...

Re: Tamiya New Beetle FF01 front wheel drive fun

I have a New Beetle too that I purchased back in 2000. I recently made a few upgrades including adding the Castrol Civic body which I think looks great.

I also added the period shock upgrade to replace the old plastic CVAs.

Re: The RC10 Grasshopper

I think you and Dadio are almost ready to form a gang of ringers to enter into a Grasshopper racing league. Yours will be the wolf in sheep's clothing and his will be a bionic Grasshopper. It's a goooood idea. Maybe its time to create an RC10Talk Champions Cup with a Grasshopper Class (I can donate...

Re: The RC10 Grasshopper

I'll have a go , it's going to be quite radical , just thought about the RC10DS , don't they have much shorter shocks ? They are much, much shorter. They use the .56 body, which is the same as the short arm front shocks. But they use an even shorter .35 shaft. I have test fitted 1.02 truck front sh...

Craig Dreschers 91 Worlds Stealth car

At the IconicRC Revival weekend I got to hold Craigs Detroit 91 Stealth car that he still has, he is looking on restoring it. While I had it I took some photos of it that you might enjoy. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/AL9nZEVnfLMZk5zD6aK3Tf5KoDJiKTRih2gqywi30gai0nk7rXWOdUBzvdXmMvJOuPdmxQUWqfK...

Re: Give a pro driver a crappy car experiment

You could give me one of the top pro drivers modern cars and I could guaranteed crash it into the wall harder than they could. I’m not sure that counts for anything but it’s a slow day.
