Re: Buying spree at old hobby shop going out of biz

I always try to stop at the small shops when traveling, I've gotten lucky finding RC10 and 10T parts a few times

Re: Future innovations in RC racing (2022 and beyond)

I already see 3d printing as the affordable future of Vintage RC Racing , as parts become scarce they become expensive and race cars become shelf queen's , 3d printed parts can put them back on track where they were designed to be .

Re: Future innovations in RC racing (2022 and beyond)

Racing innovation usually follows track design. I think there is a lot to be gained by active vehicle controls, especially as you mentioned in aerodynamics as well in computer controlled active suspension. As far as power train goes I think that direct drive brush-less off road cars that use electro...

Re: Future innovations in RC racing (2022 and beyond)

It has already happened in 1/5 scale but I think hub motors will be the next game changer. Just a matter of time.

It has already happened in 1/5 scale but I think hub motors will be the next game changer. Just a matter of time. I don't think this is far at all. I have played around a little bit with quad motors within 1/10 scale wheels, and it is possible and they just need some torque help. Open source contro...

Now this is amazing.. A vehicle that could switch from 4wd, fwd, rwd..or even one motor for low load, constant cruise speed.

Re: Buying spree at old hobby shop going out of biz

Super cool when unexpected things like this happen. Good find. The nearest by hobbytown (100 mile trip) has multiple medium sized totes full of old AE parts. How old, I don't know, I've never had enough time to sift thru them while I've been there. But one of these times I'm gonna plan time to do so.

Re: RC10 Team Car #6035 black tub chassis collectibility

New built or partially assembled cars are kind of a unique bird. There is value in the non used aspect of the car. But once you assemble it the value drops. But I think all this valuation today is way overblown, that kind of price is something I would never pay, I'd collect a bunch of new and lightl...

Re: RC10 Team Car #6035 black tub chassis collectibility

Thank you for the different perspectives. It helps me think about pulling the trigger on a collectible. I agree that it is the package deal (preserved from the 1990s) which is what I am paying for. I used to race the Egress in the 1990s and the RC10 Team Car was the last Team Associated car that I ...

Re: RC10 Team Car #6035 black tub chassis collectibility

All the vintage rc10 stuff is currently and will become even more collectable because its unlikely they'll ever be reproduced again. I'm surprised there are as many NIB cars/parts out there as there is... It's also why I scoop them up any chance I get  Thanks for your reply. Out of curiosity, ...

Re: RC10 Worlds Car rerelease collectibility (rapid rise)

I was able to get 3 new built rere worlds for about $700 each. NIB is going to run you about $1k-1.2k.

Re: Technology "Firsts" in the RC industry (with pictures)

The Losi Hydradrive. I also think the LRM trans was innovative in that you could easily adjust the ball diff without removing a driveshaft.
