Re: What are your plans with your re-release RC10T?
Mine came today. Me...I'm gonna build and run mine like I don't care. I have no attachment to the RC10T so I might as well have fun with it. Maybe it will be great and I'll grow to love it. I missed the 40th buggy and bought this due to FOMO. I'd still like a 40th, but for the current $ for the 40th...

Dirt Master (Ultima SB) beach basher
20241011_085624.jpg Long post... sorry in advance. I'm gonna sing a few praises on the Dirt Master... at least for what I think it is good for. For our family vacations, I usually pick a car take to with us and try to bring along something different for every trip as well as a car that will be fun ...

Re: Legendary series Optima Pro
I wanted to do something similar to box art but change it up by scanning the factory decals and using different colors for the stripes. In the end I took the easy road using single color paint and I dug up some extra Tomahawk decals I had laying around. 20241004_185420.jpg 20241004_185457.jpg 202410...

Re: RCCA Project Optima
I know this is a bit of an old thread...dead for 13 years...but I'm looking for a bit of help making a dream come true. I am trying to build a replica (and a few tributes) of the December 1987 RCCA Project Optima truck. Pargu builds several Tecnacraft replica wheels, but not these. I wrote him and h...

Re: RCCA Project Optima
Also, I know this is in the Ad Scans section but it was the best thread I could find.
Mods, please let me know if it would be better if I create a new thread in my hunt for an original wheel for a sample...I was unsure where was best to post.

My take on the Dec 1987 RCCA Project Optima truck
For those not familiar with the Project Optima truck, you can read the article here: https://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?t=11218 I've always loved the look of this truck. This magazine article came out when I was in the 8th grade, however, at the time it cost more than 2 years of my allowance. I'...

Re: My take on the Dec 1987 RCCA Project Optima truck
The Tecnacraft wheels have proved next to impossible to find. Marwan make reproductions of the square-block tires but I've not had much luck with the Tecnaraft wheels or any others that look like original Cragar wheels. In keeping with an 80's truck look, following is the best that I've come up with...

Re: My take on the Dec 1987 RCCA Project Optima truck
Thanks guys.
I numbered the Optima "91" as a salute to my 1991 MJ.
It's funny to think about it now, but at the time these trucks were built they were considered to be a "mid-sized" truck.

Re: My take on the Dec 1987 RCCA Project Optima truck
Nice! Ever take it out to Windrock? (Who am I kidding? It looks cleeeeean.) I have an XJ that I take to Windrock. It's about 30 min from where I live. While the MJ is quite capable I want to keep it as nice as I can. For MJ's, 91's & 92's are the Holy Grail if it has a 4.0L. Mine's also a short...

Re: My take on the Dec 1987 RCCA Project Optima truck
In a perfect world I'd find some Tecnacraft wheels...maybe eventually. Pargu said he'd make them if I could find a sample to replicate... Anyway. Tried 2 more looks tonight: 1. Pargu wheels with re-re Javelin/Optime tires. They are slightly wider and the sidewall looks a little taller. I think they ...

Re: My take on the Dec 1987 RCCA Project Optima truck
Man I remember this issue of RC Car Action! I loved this truck! So cool you've recreated it! Looks great! :D I remember having this very copy of RCCA and taking it to school in the 8th grade. A kid I had in class made fun of me for playing with radio control cars. I can still see him - he had a mul...

Re: My take on the Dec 1987 RCCA Project Optima truck
So, tonight my Turbo Optima truck took it's rightful place on my Kyosho shelf: 20250310_185715.jpg I noticed something I never thought of before in almost 40 years of lusting over this truck. 20250310_185849.jpg Nothing was said in the original article, but I think the RCCA truck's paint scheme was ...
