That's how they sometimes handle it on 1:1 scale. :) Bevel the ends for a stronger joint and deeper weld.

Looking pretty awesome! I need to invest in a tig machine to go with my mig machine... lots of 1:1 parts to make.

Did you use any heat when bending? I wonder if some heat or annealing would help? Another trick for bending is filling the tube with sand, but that helps prevent collapse of the tube.
