On a couple of builds I've used Secraft stainless steel tie rods.
They are cheap and have a pretty cool retro vibe.
Both 4-40 and m3

Re: Printed gears question
It might be easier to by a replacement gear made in delrin for the Mid https://rwracing.co.uk/shop/ols/products/optima-mid-4-acetal-idler-gear Thank you so much!!!!!! I can't believe I had not found this site! In my eyes you may now rival the legendary GoogleFu Master Phin. I have searched for such...

Re: Printed gears question
Thanks Doug
It appears that to find any Google reference to the gear and find their site you must add "acetal" in the search terms.
And RWR doesn't use Kyosho's part #?
Anyways to beat that, shipping was 6 quid!

Re: Who made the "off road stock" motor?
Doug Although I am not sure there is a reference here https://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?t=930 Re: stock motor Post by templeofspeed » Sun Mar 01, 2009 6:08 am The unmarked motor is the earlier (Yokomo) motor, it was used through early Cadillac production (the motor label should have the address...

Re: Vintage Kyosho Rocky - NiCad to NiMH conversion
The motor's heat questions can be partially addressed by gearing. I inexpensively modified 3 items on my Rocky. 1. I cleaned and polished the MSC printed circuit board with McGuire's polish. 2. I replaced the contacts on the MSC wiper arm. 3. I replaced the old broken ceramic resistors with higher w...

Re: Turbo Optima mid SE
This is getting picky but... The gear I was going to use to replace the Kyosho OT-86 counter gear was a Robinson RRP-3750 for Optima Mid. The Robinson is a much better gear than the poor excuse for a gear that Kyosho made but the Robinson is 32p. Why 32p, why not the correct .8mod??? I found an M.I....

Kyosho Outrage
I completely disassembled and thoroughly cleaned this car, I'm not sure it was ever run.
A few more pics. https://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?p=560878&hilit=outrage#p560878

Re: So, what did you do RC today?
Try either UltraHiVE on Ebay or mciracing.ca.
UltraHiVE's are said to be more premium and MCI's are probably more affordable.

Re: RC10 - A Stamp Rebuild - Chipped Idler Gear
The D-Hawk bearing adapter is not really necessary IMHO. "Should I put bearings in this kit, or are there any other improvements I could make in the gear box while it's open ?" Bearings is yes. The best investment in a 6 gear transmission is taking the burrs off the teeth of all the metal ...

Re: Turbo Optima mid SE
The installation of the rwracing.co.uk acetal gear did not go as smoothly as possible. But I believe it is partly due to my usage of the ball diff vs using a gear diff. The rwracing gear is much wider than the Kyosho OT85 style gear. Approximately 9.1mm for the rwracing gear vs 7.7mm for the Kyosho ...

Re: Turbo Optima mid SE
Now with all the clearance issues aside, on to the benefits. 15% wider contact area vs the Kyosho idler gear. More face contact = more strength. The Kyosho idler gear, by all appearances, is quite soft and not very durable. Conversely a Derlin/acetal/POM gear is beautiful to machine, very durable an...

Re: RC10 - A Stamp Rebuild - Chipped Idler Gear
There are a few reasons that any well built trans will not spin for the purported 15 seconds. Friction from the felt seals And more notably the grease in the bearings. Also excessive side play in both the idlers and out drives that can cause the gears to wobble. With the felt seals removed and all o...
