Re: Turbo Optima mid (SE???)
Cleaning , polishing and a little paint. Hours of cleaning. Hours of sanding. Hours of polishing. And a little paint on the wheels. Toothbrush with simple green, dishwashing detergent and marvel mystery oil. 220grit, 320, 400, 800, 1000, 2000 and 3000. May be 50% of the way done with cleaning and po...

Re: Turbo Optima mid (SE???)
Man Chuck that is amazing! I know your opinion of Kyoshos back at "Right Stuff Hobbies" in the late 80's weren't that great.....but your about to find out 80s Kyosho's are as good as anything....if not better! Wait till you get the Le Mans bug in you  Derek I am almost beginning to g...

Re: Turbo Optima mid (SE???)
Doug, the only time I tried adhesion promoter on Lexan was when I dipped some bodies.
Not really sure of effectiveness as my dipping results were kind of mixed.
A couple of pretty nice successes and one or two failures. Pretty steep learning curve on hydrodipping for a novice.

Re: Turbo Optima mid (SE???)
Chuck, Kyosho Le Mans never made a 27t stock motor. They did have 2 Super stock motors with 20 and 34 degree fixed timing , closed endbell, bushings....but that wasnt stock. Ok you got me.... I will admit to owning more than one Kyosho motor. But only under the most dire circumstances. Please don't...

Re: Turbo Optima mid (SE???)
Thanks Chuck. I might even have a partial can of the Dupicolor Silver - I need to look for that. Anyway, they look great. Something tells me you won't be running the car with those wheels. :D By the way, have you ever tried adhesion promoter on lexan? Curious if it will bond ordinary cheap rattle c...

Re: Turbo Optima mid (SE???)
3 of the shock ends that were on the car are pretty torn up and one was missing altogether. I've been trying to replicate the elusive ADj-1 lower shock mount. At least without paying $40 plus for 4 new ones. May have to go that route, but for now I'll try to mod some ends. First attempt, not so good...

Re: Turbo Optima mid (SE???)
Doug Can we assume the crease has crossed into the area without primer? Since this paint is lacquer based, it will become brittle over time so it could crack more easily after it cures completely - perhaps after a couple weeks or more. Acrylic enamel paint might be less prone to cracking. Cracking i...

Re: Turbo Optima mid (SE???)
Put together the front diff with new gears. The gear set was actually cheap, so why not replace. Cleaned and lubed the bearings first. Then shimmed the side gears till there was little play with the pinions. Next adjusted the end play of the side gears to a minimum . Then spun the heck out of one of...

Re: Turbo Optima mid SE
Thanks David I appreciate that. Probably going to order shock diaphragms/compensators, tiny o rings and a couple other smalls. Sure as I decide to order anything rare/expensive Kyosho will re-release the TOM and all the parts I ordered will become cheap and readily found. :? Hoping you guys do good ...

Re: Turbo Optima mid SE
In my search I couldn't find a steel idler gear. I think Thorp may have offered a steel idler. My guess is because the output gear I bought is a Thorp 5021 Hardened Steel Top Counter Gear / OT-86 Upgrade. The Thorpe is a better gear than the Kyosho in my opinion. Others may well have offered upgrade...

Re: Duratrax Evader
Hi there Sappersly
The Duratrax Evader is a kinda, sorta cousin to a Losi XX.
Chassis are very similar but not many parts interchange.
Front bumper, arms and maybe a few other parts will work on either car.
