Re: First one I ever had... 2019 Turbo Optima re-re build

And then here are the final final pics after applying all the decals. Funny, the instruction manual actually contains a guide on where to place everything to match the box art, BUT they actually miss a couple of them.... so keep a keen eye if you want to match the box art. 20191007_180623.jpg 201910...

Re: Yo-clone-oh Dogfighter

I've made some modifications to the gearbox and the Kyosho Scorpion modded diff will now fit and it will still accept the stock diff , just out of curiosity I tried to fit the Scorpion diff in a genuine gearbox and it very nearly fits ! With a little material removed from the bearing support on one ...

Re: Ultima Pro XL wheelbase?

Hey Buddy,

Just measured a Ultima MK1 vs an XL, and I can confirm the XL is 13 mm longer.

260mm MK1 vs 273mm XL.

Cheers!

Re: Optima Mid eye candy

I've ordered from him twice in the past few months. Each time it took about 4 weeks for the package to arrive. Here's some close ups of the bodies, Turbo SE - real deal Kyosho. Regular Mid - Marwan. Pretty difficult to tell them apart. I read about the TBG body being a bit small/short. My marwan bod...

Re: Ultima LWB

I actually think you might be fine there...the upper deck "skeleton" shouldn't be taking the brunt of the abuse anyway, but you might get it a bit more sturdy by bolting it down with a countersunk screw inside a conical washer, instead of just a screw...that might disperse any vibrations t...

Nice Doug!

Attention to detail, Definition- When the color of your cad matches the actual color of chassis
I really like this build. Craftsmanship at its best, like always.

Re: Yo-clone-oh Dogfighter

I think this should work , I've made two types of mount , a stock type for the shelf only as its too flimsy and a strong version that has an upper deck shown fitted to the car , testing begins now on this new mount and bell cranks , the bell cranks are probably stronger and more rigid than the stock...

Re: Ultima 2019

Same here -- "Wednesday by the end of the day". It's in Shawnee OK at the moment. Eager to see if trans is pre-assembled and how the critical dimensions for the new parts compare to the vintage ones. I got an early model and the trans wasn't built, neither where the shocks, it didn't come...

Just modern mounts, those exact ones are off the Associated b5m but yokomo and Kyosho have the same bolt pattern.

Re: Yokomo works 93

Doug, those extra links are installed as a factory upgrade. when the car was first designed and tested, they noticed quite a bit of flex in the c-hub and front arms. So they added the extra brace and link to improve the front end stiffness. later models have improved materials and design to prevent ...
