Re: looks like we need a rere associated ReRe DS section next!

SWB Kyosho Fazer bodies are very close. WB technically is about 1.1mm different. WT, at least on this Camaro, is just where I would want it. Might be a little wide on a non-muscle car. I ordered up a STI body, so hopefully that will line up, but the wheels being wide in the rear is going to be an is...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

This evening I watched both Smokey and the Bandit I (1977), and made it about halfway through Smokey and the Bandit II (1980); part II has Bandit written on the drivers door, part I has no name on the door. What i was really looking for was the exact decals to use for the Part I Bandit. The Bandit I...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

I was looking everywhere for the optional silver headlight and tail light buckets, shown on the sheet: https://i.imgur.com/mdKAJ2s.jpg What I had thought was a separate nose, like the tail wing came with, was really the light buckets, that need to be painted silver/chrome: https://i.imgur.com/SfpEg9...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

Those lexan light buckets don't offer a secure mount for the leds so I was thinking about using hot glue to hold them in place. Is there a better way short of having something 3d printed? Clear double-sided tape. Or clear mounting tape, it's a lot thicker. ...Backing it with aluminum HVAC tape secu...

That's what I did with my Kyosho Beetle, the hot glue works well. Also, drilling the hole smaller than the LED,...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

Here's a weird one. The HPI 1978 Firebird body is completely licensed by Pontiac, and it has every decal for this body on the sheet - it would seem, but it's missing (3) major decals. The one over the license plate, and the (2) on each side under the side scoops - that all said Trans-Am: https://i.i...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

I've gone back and taken another look at your photo of instruction sheet and decals and correct me if I'm wrong but "Trans-Am" doesn't appear anywhere. My guess is HPI wasn't able to secure the necessary license from whomever controls the trademark. As you've noted, they have given us a v...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

Oh wow... When XLR8 asked about the lights I didn't know the body came with actual light buckets. Hats off to HPI for that level of detail.

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

Sorry I am late to the "Trans Am" discussion.

Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) owns the name Trans Am. Pontiac licensed it from them. It is rumored that there were a lot of years in which the royalty check from Pontiac was the biggest item on the SCCA's books.

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

Yes. It's AE's rendition of the Mustang Tommy Kendall drove in the SCCA Trans Am series. Thus, it is a Trans Am Mustang. The Jon Gooding version is better looking IMO. I think I am going to just go with the stock body and try to pay tribute to it (minus the big wing). 0e18ab57-b16b-4764-9638...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

I'm gonna wait on that one and watch Mr. BarOn finish his since he clearly knows what he's doing. 8) Ha... why learn from your own mistakes when you can learn from someone elses?? :P   Kidding, obviously... Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement, guys! I've just finally reached that age where I don't mind failing in the pursuit of success, or looking foolish if it helps others. I remember in junior high being called a "Try-hard" was the worst thing, now that's all I want to do  I te...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

I just blew out (4) LED's - twice, so (8) LED's total now gone. I can laugh about it a couple of hours later, but what a waste of time. https://i.imgur.com/1dAG7jK.jpg Why twice? Because with the Hobbywing 1060 this worked with no problems, (3) LED's in parallel connected directly to the switch: 6mg...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

I'm pretty sure all of my ESC's deliver 6v max to the Rx but I read that your JustStock can be switched from 6v to 7.4v. Could this be what blew your LED's? Anyway, I'm no LED expert and I really don't have the patience to rig a light controller so I just power all my lights from an empty port on t...
