Re: HG-P407 "Bruiser Clone" Arrived Today!

I installed some 2 stage foam inserts today from Crawler Inovations. Prolines come with nice memory foam inserts, but on a heavy truck (Mine weighs in at 8 lb.-6 oz), they are the equivilent of having 4 flat tires. With the stock foams , the truck is pretty much riding on the rim while running on a ...

Re: Cheapest Brushless ESC Test and Review

If you want to race, you need a sensored esc and motor. Sensorless is ok for bashing, but to get the smooth throttle control needed for any kind of track racing, a sensored setup is the only way to go. The esc I discussed and tested in this thread is around $17 and can easily handle a 13.5 motor, wh...

Re: Carpet racing

chassis skins with holes make maintenance easier, but defeat the purpose of having them on a carpet track. As you mentioned, they are required to keep screws from backing out and snagging the carpet. As far as I know, all carpet tracks require them, as well as turf tracks, and is usually part of tec...

Re: SDRA RC DRAG RACING 3-7-2020

I'm building my first no-prep drag car. I'll be posting a thread on it soon. Trying to get some interest going in southern Oregon. Still working on a place to run, possibly getting a tree, etc. Looks like alot of fun. Love the scale aspect of some of these cars.

Re: Optima mid freebie project

Welcome! Great way to get back in the hobby. There are plenty of vintage Kyosho fans around here including myself. That mid looks very restorable. There are still enough parts out there to make restoring these managable. Shoud be alot of fun. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

B5M/SC5M No Prep Street Outlaw Drag Car

I'm hoping to spark up some interest in rc drag racing in southern Oregon. This is my first drag car build. It is based on the Team Associated B5M/SC5M platform. For those of you not familiar with this class of car, Its basically a 2wd buggy that is lengthened to have the wheelbase of a short couse ...

Re: SDRA RC DRAG RACING 3-7-2020

Batteries is something I need to spend some time looking into for sure. Alot of the "c ratings" printed on a battery seem to be bullbutter when I moniter the internal resistance during charging / discharging.

Re: Trackmaster Equalizer SS

Here's what I have so far. I went with all carbon fiber instead of the black graphite (I hope this is correct). It all cleaned up pretty good so far. The shocks needed a little more help. I've got them soaking in wd-40 right now. I'll be cleaning and rebuilding those next. I still need to come up wi...

Re: Advise Please! Top Cat Classic & Brushless?

Sensored motors will be listed by number of turns. Motors listed by kv ratings are generally sensorless. The kv ratings can be confusing at first. A kv rating is just a claimed rpm rating. 17.5t-10.5t sensored motor is what you should be looking at. One with adjustable endbell timing is a plus, but ...

Re: Advise Please! Top Cat Classic & Brushless?

Lipos should be balanced at around 3.8v per cell every time you're done using them. A decent charger will do this automatically with the storage setting. I use an Ultra Power 10 amp charger. They cost around $60. This style charger lets me monitor exactly whats going on while charging/discharging. I...

Re: Mud Blaster Brushless/Lipo Conversion help

The couple times I tried to keep my old futaba am or fm radios in use after I converted to brushless/lipo, I had bad glitching problems and a total lack of control 10ft from the car. Others may know how to avoid this, but with the low cost of decent radios these days, I switched to 2.4 radios and le...

Re: Here We Go!

Traxxas has definitely claimed its market share, but at race tracks it's still an Associated and Losi world. They have far from disappeared, but you usually won't find them in hobby shops that aren't located near a racetrack. Associated still makes arguably the best rc race cars on the planet, but t...

Re: B5M/SC5M No Prep Street Outlaw Drag Car

Not yet. Rc stuff gets put on hold around here about now every year. Fish start biting, mushrooms are popping up, and I start preparing my feeders stands and trail cams for the August hunting season. Caught a new personal best trout a few days ago. 26", 8.2 lbs. My toy cars take a back seat for...
