That’s a perfect car for a runner. I would put a modern 2.4 ghz radio but stick with a mild brush or brushless motor

I have a couple runners using that motor and that are similarly setup - I'd say about the only thing you might want is titanium turnbuckles for bashing durability, the steel ones pretzel pretty easily when bashing at 35mph

For a basher, I'd probably get some heavier duty ball cups as well. I believe that the RPM cups are available in three different lengths, allowing some flexibility in turnbuckle lengths and the ability to gain some more thread engagement. Got it painted up. Tamiya brilliant blue with Duratrax bright white and gunmetal.

My original fits perfect with the stock body mounts. I have never had trouble with fitment.

Here is a couple photos with the body just sitting on the truck. I have since trimmed up the back of the body and have the rear spoiler cut and ready to mount as well.
