Re: JRX2 - Restoration/modification - 5 link mid motor

No track time yet. Getting close to completion though. I have rebuilt the shocks and replaced the oil. I bought a tuning set of front and rear springs for the RC10 and a set of RPM spring cups to suit. My local circuit is carpet so bearing that in mind I have set the ride height at 25mm front and re...

Re: JRX2 - Restoration/modification - 5 link mid motor

I was thinking about making a rear body mount when I realised that if I use the original 5 link brackets instead of the RPM brackets then I wouldn't have to. So I swapped out the RPM's for stock and made the necessary holes in the body. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll28/danielsx125/4C6343B0-9D...

Re: JRX2 - Restoration/modification - 5 link mid motor

That looks great. You should keep it off road. The pro body was longer than the JRX2 and may fit the longer chassis you have. Here is my painted body. I really want some Lunsford and RPM stickers to finish it off. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll28/danielsx125/86D09816-27BF-48AF-B1F1-ABDEA02FB2...

Re: JRX2 - Restoration/modification - 5 link mid motor

Thanks for the feedback chaps. I think the angle of the wing may be a little steep but it can't possibly be too high. It is mounted in the same way and at the same height as any stock JRX2/Pro. If it were behind the shock tower then surely the air flow to it would be compromised?

Re: JRX2 - Restoration/modification - 5 link mid motor

Ok, got the wheels trimmed down. Made a wing wire and mounted the wing. Will paint the body this week. Then I need the ESC, motor, servo and radio gear. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll28/danielsx125/99FCC43E-132E-4AB0-A544-F31DBDA347CE.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll28/danielsx125/41...

Re: JRX2 - Restoration/modification - 5 link mid motor

My mistake on the front tyres. I have fitted a pair of cut staggered ribs. They are a little tight on the B4 rims. I have read that some people cut the rims narrower? Is that a good idea or will they be ok as they are? Updates. I have added a second rear shock tower spacer. This has aligned the rear...

Modern springs for vintage silver top load shocks

Does anyone know what modern springs are available that will suit the silver top load shocks? Will the current Schumacher standard bore springs work? Looking for a compatible tuning set that's easily available. Thanks

Re: JRX2 - Restoration/modification - 5 link mid motor

I need some help with springs. I want to get a new tuning set of springs from a current model that will fit these old Schumacher shocks. I need a spring with an inner diameter of about 15mm. Can anyone measure some and let me know if a particular model will fit the bill? Perhaps Team Durango or mode...

Re: JRX2 - Restoration/modification - 5 link mid motor

Tyres arrived and some turnbuckles for the rear. Wheels are standard B4 with 12mm hex on the rear. A 12mm hex adapter 7mm wide fits perfectly and allow wheels to clear the 5 link. Very simple.

Re: JRX2 - Restoration/modification - 5 link mid motor

Thanks for the input. The power clutch arrived from A&L. This morning I installed the clutch and swapped the motor plate to the other side. All fairly straight forward. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll28/danielsx125/F990459F-AD63-4AF5-8C96-2C60E6B8AAB3.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums...

Re: JRX2 - Restoration/modification - 5 link mid motor

Loving how this is coming together Daniel - I've often wondered how the JRX2 would work as a mid-motor.... or if 5-linking a regular modern mid motor chassis would improve rear end traction but maintain good power-on steering... i.e best of both worlds? Looking forward to seeing how this progresses...

Yes, I will look into swapping the motor plate to the other side when the slipper arrives. Hopefully soon.

JRX2 - Restoration/modification - 5 link mid motor

Hello, This is my first post here. I thought you might like to see the my JRX2 build. This car was definitely raced in it's past but was found second hand by my brother and I in the early 90's. It ended up in the loft until a couple of weeks ago when I came across it and decided to rebuild it. This ...
