Re: Kyosho Ultima II
Thanks for the replies. I couldn't find a manual for the ESC. But I was able to discern that if I double tap the trigger I can get it to accelerate FWD while the car is still rolling in REV. I got the idea from the Atomik ESC manual. I'll switch the motor leads back to normal and flip the switch on ...

It's done! 15T Brushed / 2S LiPo / ESC / Low Voltage Alarm http://i.imgur.com/D9pXMwfl.jpg This thing is crazy fast!!! Good thing I ordered that extra set of ball ends. 3 old ones cracked open when I rolled it. http://i.imgur.com/8yhwyPjl.jpg Questions... How do I lower the center of gravity? The sh...

Re: Kyosho Ultima II
I popped the flanged bearings into the center gear and they fit well. Though there is a larger-than-I-thought gap in between the bearings inside the gear. But, if Mr. ED and Coelacanth say not to mind the gap, then I won't! Here you can see how much taller the original bushing + 2 washers are than t...

Re: Kyosho Ultima II
Awesome! I think they'll be fine except for maybe a little space on the inside between the bearings, where the flange doesn't let the bearing get all the way into the center gear. I imagine that gap between the bearings would be the width of 2 flanges. Or maybe not. I can stack the 2 flanged bearing...

Re: Kyosho Ultima II
A pair of 4 x 8mm bearings (unflanged) would be used inside the (stock) center gear when its inserted onto the shaft. Recall that the stock design uses a plastic collar between the bearings to keep them in position...I wonder if an aftermarket gear was used in place of the stock one, if it might've...

Re: Kyosho Ultima II
3. They look like front wheel bearings - did the Ultima2 run flanged bearings in the front wheels? Thanks for info. I went over the manual to check what the front wheels originally came with. 4x8mm bushings (2 per wheel). They are NOT flanged. I replaced those with 5x11x4mm bearings when I upgraded...

Re: Kyosho Ultima II
Modernization project continues! http://i.imgur.com/Ox5sowil.jpg I've taken a lot of things apart, cleaned, and reassembled. Like the transmission and diff. I also put new 40wt oil in the shocks. Those things had but a spit of oil left in them! I do have some questions though... First question , I h...

Re: Kyosho Big Brute, Ultima XL and Turbo Raider - Back Into
Depingus, how much did the new axles/wheels tires and such cost? Are you running on the stock old MSC and brushed motor? I think the front tires on both cars are OK for now but the backs are flat spotted from sitting so long. I have another set that looks OK (they were not installed on a car). It l...

Re: Kyosho Big Brute, Ultima XL and Turbo Raider - Back Into
Gold shocks...[drool] Welcome aboard! I'm in the same boat. I found my way here just recently when I started a rebuild of my old Ultima II. You'll find the users here are very knowledgeable and friendly. The biggest issue I had with my build was the tires. I needed new ones and tires in these sizes ...

Kyosho Ultima II - Kit No. 3118 - Manual English v1.0 1990
As promised, I've scanned and uploaded my Ultima II manual! I tried uploading the JPEG scans to retromodelisme.com, but I'm not sure if it was successful. It might just be waiting mod approval. If there's anywhere else I should post it, let me know. In the meantime, you can grab them below. Feel fre...

Re: Kyosho Ultima II
I pulled the gear box and diff apart. http://i.imgur.com/rWnng2hl.jpg Everything looks pretty good in there. http://i.imgur.com/vZBfXHRl.jpg I cleaned everything and it all went back together nicely...with new ball bearings in place. I also finally found THIS... http://i.imgur.com/1cHXh6Fl.jpg As so...
