Re: G'day!

I'll see how I go, I'm no stranger to painting bodies, just not sure whether it'll be worth the trouble.

I'll have a think about it. :D

Re: G'day!

Coelacanth: thanks, that's exactly what I have done, new body, decal set and wing kit are coming from AE.

I hope to do the body as per the box art, as that's what got me in int the first place.

Now while we're discussing this, what's the general concensus: painted stripes or decal stripes?

G'day!

Hey all, just thought I'd pop in here and give you a bit of a low-down on me. I've always had a soft-spot for the RC10, it was in all the modelling magazines when I was kid, and of course it had the best racing pedigree. At the time all I could afford were beat-up Tamiya models from other people, bu...

Re: Stock steering bellcranks galled up

So how does that work? Do you need to drill the chassis for the 4-40's?

Re: Stock steering bellcranks galled up

Yeah I saw that on one of the pics, but it's not as stupid as it seems, using a bolt that way is basically a worm drive, it gives a good amount of bearing surface, but your tolerances need to be pretty good to use it correctly. Fine for say, a 1" thread, but for 8/32 I can see that thing wobbli...

Re: Stock steering bellcranks galled up

Funnily enough that's exactly what I did. I guess. I've come to expect more from steering assemblies working with newer cars, and being an engineer myself i know that using a threaded bolt as a bearing is a big no-no.

Still, like you say, worked since 84!

Stock steering bellcranks galled up

Hey all, I just received my B chassis RC10 last night, and one of the first things I noticed was the steering was binding. After undoing the nylon lock nuts I looked inside and sure enough the inside of the bellcrank tubes that fit over the 8/32 bolts is all galled up. I for one cannot beleive that ...

Re: Box art cockpit

Excellent, thanks for that Scr8p!

Incidentally, is the pro-line body (available from the AE website) accurate to the original? I know that the classic had different webbing, but considering I'll be cutting that away, its not an issue for me.

Re: Box art cockpit

Ok, I'm new to the site, so I'm probably going to mess things up for a while!

Thanks for the input:)

Box art cockpit

Hey all, this is first post territory, so go easy on me! I've recently bought an original RC10 (at this stage don't know what stamp it is, will find out when it arrives) and I want to do the shell as per the box art, as those ads in the 80's really captured my attention, and even now still do. It lo...
