Re: TQ10 Motor gets hot
the revers swich is there so if you push the throtal forward and the car goes forward you can flick the swich so when you pull the throtal back it goes forward when you turn the car on it will always give a kick to let you know the car is on just unplug the motor and set the speed control using the...

Re: TQ10 Motor gets hot
If its an electronic speed control it will look like a rectangular box with wires that come out of it and go the the motor, the battery, and the receiver, like this http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p29/mk-Zero/RC/2014-01-12211127_zps57b64cc8.jpg . If its a mechanical speed control it will look so...

Re: TQ10 Motor gets hot
I assume the car has an electronic speed control? If so it is probably thermalling and shutting down, have you checked how hot it gets? You should be able to touch the motor and hold it for at least 5 seconds. What motor is it Is the drivetrain free? If it had been sitting a long time the grease ca...

Re: TQ10 Motor gets hot
Thanks for the replies. I do not think the car has been run for at least 18 years. The people who gave it to me lived in their house for 18 years before they just moved to Arizona. Their son, whose car it was, has been out of their house maybe longer. So the car has been sitting around. I have no id...

TQ10 Motor gets hot
I know almost nothing about radio control stuff. Someone moving away gave me an old TQ10 Graphite car with a Futaba Attack Controller and a Panda Ni-cd battery charger. Only thing missing was a battery. So I got a 1800 mah battery on Ebay. After the battery arrived I took the car out for a test and ...

Re: TQ10 Graphite
Don't get too hung up on it being a TQ10. You're going to get widely varying opinions on weather or not you should clean it up and preserve it in a sealed glass case, or just get it rolling and have fun with it. Honestly, it's still basically an RC10 and RC10's aren't that rare anymore nor are they...

Re: TQ10 Graphite
I did a google search on how rare the TQ10 is. The thread on the following forum seems to say they are not that rare:

The two on Ebay at the moment have not been snapped up.

Re: TQ10 Graphite
Is this car supposed to have reverse? I tried pulling the accelerator back to see if it would go in reverse. But it did not.

Re: TQ10 Graphite
Also, avoid storing it with the battery plugged in. Those Duratrax ONYX 1800's are actually a very decent sport/basher battery. I have two of them and my charger can regularly squeeze 2100+ mAh into one and 2000+ mAh into the other. But they are NiCds so they are old technology nowadays! Any specif...

Re: TQ10 Graphite
it's not necessary unless you really want to. That's a great example of that car in good condition. Nice to see it survive. Enjoy it, should be lots of fun! Sounds like the neighbor kid has a Traxxas car. So once they start playing with these things together I'm sure it will be all downhill for the...

Re: TQ10 Graphite
that a nice real deal TQ10, a few items and it will be a very good example. How is the bottom of the chassis? The bottom of the chassis has a few minor scratches but appears to be fine. Shall I post a picture of that too? I'll have to borrow my daughter's superior camera for better close-up pictures.

Re: TQ10 Graphite
The only think it looks like it needs, besides a new front arm (and a 'proper' set of off-road tires and wheels), is a replacement battery strap. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LX2779&P=7 Associated has gone back and forth between white and black parts over the years. Some...

Re: TQ10 Graphite
Took a five pictures of the TQ10 without the ugly orange body on it. Just wondering what you can tell me about the car from the pictures. Is it a rather standard setup? Re: TQ10 Graphite
or we can do it this way...the 6205 early or 6206 late are what it could have come with. both are available thru tower hobbies, ebay, etc if its not one of those,it may be an RPM or Andys aftermarket arm- however its not likely as they rarely break! this is the early arm: http://www.teamassociated....

Re: TQ10 Graphite
In my first attempts to upload the photo I failed to notice the message at the top of the screen that the image was too large. So I've cropped it and should be viewable now.
