Re: new build Tomahawk...offers?
It is a great looking buggy and I can say from experience, it doesn't take long to rack up the $$$ when restoring one back to new. I am almost (99%) finished with mine and I have at least $400 invested in it already. You can look at my thread and see how much of it I already had. That is just the co...

Re: New build Tomahawk
I first had 10mm shocks on mine and they just seemed too big. There was not a lot of room for play between the front stays and the springs. You may be right about that Mike I assume the 10mm dampers are easier to find because more models used them than the 8mm?

Re: New build Tomahawk
It looks pretty sweet! :D If you are going for OEM and keeping it 100% original, it looks like your shocks are 10mm and the Tomahawk came with 8mm. I had the same issue with mine. It seems the slimmer 8mm shocks are pretty hard to come by. I finally found some, but the anodize was scratched, I ended...

Re: Optima & Ultima
Thank you all for the help :) I got the manuals in the mail this weekend. He had an Ultima, Optima & Turbo Optima. So there should be (most) of the parts to build those 3 cars, but I will probably make 2 and see what is left. I have a lot of work ahead sorting parts and figuring what is missing,...

Re: Optima & Ultima
I think you are correct Dennis. There is an aluminum guard and the original shock towers in the box. The previous owner told me this morning that the Ultima was the first one made (just Ultima) and he added the the graphite plate as an upgrade. If the original came with the red 10mm shocks, I have t...

Re: Optima & Ultima
I got the Optima stripped down. Getting ready to start cleaning those parts. I have Super Clean (which has always worked well for me). I haven't touched the Ultima yet. I figure it would be best to do one at a time (since I am a noobie). I am concerned about that Ultima chassis plate, that thing loo...

Re: Optima & Ultima
I have all the original parts. It will just take time to sort out what is what and get them back to original. The good news is, because he modified them, he stripped off the original parts leaving them unused and like new :D BUT, it's like you said, hard to tell what they started out as. I am going ...

Optima & Ultima
Hello all. I recently bought a vintage lot locally. I am trying to identify exactly what models I have. I know they are an Optima & Ultima, but need some help on which model of each. Here are some pics and if any more info is needed, just ask :D ULTIMA http://i972.photobucket.com/albums/ae206/hi...

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
I who admittedly seldom score rare items at the right moment or at a decent price, happened on a NIP Towmahwak SC-72 window net, rear exhaust pipe, side mirror and flood lights. Very soon they will be sitting a top my TBG Tomahawk. You Sir, are a lucky man! I've only seen the one on eBay....

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
It probably would have. I may have cut it down to just make it look more like the original, but the pre-drilled holes don't match the ones in the body. So, you would have to drill those to match. I checked to see if Team CRP had them still available, but didn't see any

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
I think I had to trim it down because of the way the Tomahawks body was made. Good info to know for future builds Raman, Thanks!

Have you considered making the taller roll bar for the Beetle? That would be a nice part to be able to get!
