Re: CAT gearbox side plates

Very nice!

Even more curious about mine now!
Could be home made I guess but they look very professionally made.

Re: CAT gearbox side plates

I would of thought MMS as it looks like the heatsink on my alloy MMS gearbox but mine not as deep as that. Hi Peakey, You could be right, MMS are certainly one of the possible manufacturers. I thought maybe WASP too, but I can't find any others pictured ehen searching the Internet. Does anyone know...

CAT gearbox side plates

Can anyone tell me who made these aftermarket gearbox plates?
And what sort of era?
They are thicker than standard and machined with a groove pattern for heat dissipation.
(If I guessed by the hole pattern I'd say they were for the Procat rather than any earlier.)
Thanks.

Looks great Dan.
As always, a very well turned out vibtage racer.
Thanks for posting the pics.

Re: My Vintage Schumacher Projects

Yeah I think the guy with the YZ-10 was Anthony Hill (a well known name in R/C in this area from the very early days of R/C racing up to the early 90s) I'm sure we could rope Chris Giles (Jiffy) in on it also 8) Yes, it was Anthony, his name had escaped me earlier. What's Jiffy got in the shed then...

Re: My Vintage Schumacher Projects

Hi Nigel.... good to see your vintage Schumachers over here on RC10Talk... I love the shots of your ProCat in period trim (& period mud  ) As for having a ProCat 'show-down' - name your date & i'll make sure my car is ready... I'm racing this Tuesday  I've carefully set aside...

Re: 3D printed CAT XLS bumper

If you've got a bumper to copy it's easy to reproduce as all it is is a piece of grey kydex that's cut out and bent. There's already repros on ebay for a lot less than getting them 3D printed. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Schumacher-SWB-CAT-Vintage-RC-Repro-Bumper-Fender-Like-Retro-1-10-kyosho/1913743...

Re: My Vintage Schumacher Projects

Here's my old racer ProCAT in its current form. It runs an 8.5 brushless motor, with saddle lipos. Saddle nests are from a Schumacher SV2 with some custom carbon mounts to avoid needing to drill the standard chassis. I've also made a custom slipper which uses an SV2 spur and slipper pads on a shaft ...

Re: My Vintage Schumacher Projects

Here's the Tanaplan chassis set.
Not sure whether to use this for a ProCAT build or if the standard chassis would be more sought after?

More car pics later...

Re: 3D printed CAT XLS bumper

Sorry, forgot to say, thank you very much for the offer of modelling up the grey bumper.
I might well take you up on it!
It would be really nice to be able to run with an authentic looking grey bumper, but the originals are just way too scarce and fragile!

Re: 3D printed CAT XLS bumper

I've chatted with Robin Schumacher a number of times about the level of interest in the vintage cars, and the possibility of reproducing, but the problem is they don't have any of the tooling to reproduce old parts, and tooling can be very expensive. That's where the 3D printing comes into its own, ...

My Vintage Schumacher Projects

Hi All, I'm pretty new to RC10Talk, but know quite a few of you from the vintage section on Oople. Thought I'd start a thread here and share some of my Vintage Schumacher projects (I always find I get more done on these projects during the winter, so maybe there will be some more progress to show so...

Re: 3D printed CAT XLS bumper

Looks interesting.
Have you thought about making an earlier Short Wheel Base CAT grey bumper?
These are really hard to find now.

Re: Schumacher C car at the track

Really great to see your video of the C car in action.
I have one lurking in the garage that has not run for approaching 30 years!
Its on the list for a tidy up once I've done the old Schumacher off road cars.
