Re: Build a brushless buggy on a GT chassis?
Well, I threw 1/8 rear buggy wheels on with some 2.2 fronts. Definitely helped with traction, but I should have tightened up the diff. Outdrives were smokin' hot, and it cut the center out of the diff gear. Metal gear en route, will report back in a few days.

Re: Couldn't do that again if I tried...
You can stack nine golf balls? I want to see that! Would be a long video. lol. Need a very level, very stabile surface, and even with that, it's many tumbles of 4, 5, 6 high stacks before you get it just right. The dimples act as tiny sockets on the bottom, and create a little point at the top; the...

Re: Couldn't do that again if I tried...
This made me think of stacking golf balls. Most I could ever get before Jenga was 9.

Re: Build a brushless buggy on a GT chassis?
Well, I stuck truck tires on it to see if that would help, but it's still like driving on oil. The smallest blip of the throttle makes it spin out, just like my .32 powered off-road GT. And boy it it noisy when you have steel-on-steel gears with rigid aluminum mounting to an aluminum pan! The nitros...

Re: Build a brushless buggy on a GT chassis?
Personally I would ditch the metal spur gear and go plastic. Plasric spurs go from 52 to 66 teeth for the gt/nds. We'll see how it does with the 24T I have coming. I think I can get up to 28T in 32P. If it's still not enough, I'll go to mod. 1 and run a 48T Losi steel spur with whatever size pinion...

Re: Build a brushless buggy on a GT chassis?
Well, I got impatient and managed to turn up a 1/8 end mill, so whipped up a plate and punched out the 3mm gear to 5mm. Temporary on the gear, but it'll get me through the weekend (maybe....) http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n117/Hunter2506/RC/IMG_0382_zpseff71d58.jpg http://i110.photobucket.com/a...

Re: The NOS RC10GT build begins!
I need a B3 hold down, if he still has one. For now, I just zip tie and tell the wife to drive nice.Had b2/b3 battery hold downs with them too...some have gone to this board
I was too slow to get an NOS white 7529 last month on eBay; two of them went at $15/ea, but I missed them.

Re: OK - This RC10 restoration addiction is starting to suck
You only have too many when there's no room to store them indoors, or you can't make your bills. I've been into RC since I was a little pepper popper, but it really blew up this year. Currently have 18, 12 of them AE (plus an OFNA, two losi trucks, and Axial crawler, an HSP mini touring car and the ...

Re: The NOS RC10GT build begins!
got 15 or so of each p/s and non p/s hanging on the hooks at the LHS. Of the early 4-40 threaded ones? I can buy current production M3 thread non-PS manifolds all day long. a wanted thread works wonders around here for some of this stuff In that case, I'll start one for this elusive rear bumper.

Re: The NOS RC10GT build begins!
Also don't forget your non-ps engine mounts and flywheel  Not worried about the mounts, I had ordered them before I scored this Picco non-PS engine. I thought the same flywheel was included in the PS & Non-PS kits? Or was that with blue chassis trucks? It was hard enough finding an NOS...

Re: Build a brushless buggy on a GT chassis?
Motor & ESC are here! Unfortunately, I forgot that all of my 32P pinions were 3mm shaft, so a 24T is en route. I also forgot that I'd broken my 1/8" end mill a couple months ago, which is a $40 mill, so I just ordered the Dynotech plate for this round. Moved the servo over 13/64" to ma...

Re: Build a brushless buggy on a GT chassis?
Called Associated, and yeah, the SC1200 can't handle that voltage. Oh well, I should think with the gearing I can throw at a 550 can on a < 4Lb chassis, this thing should be plenty fast on 3S. I'd like to see 70 MPH out of it.

Re: Build a brushless buggy on a GT chassis?
It's a nice bracket, but I'll be milling my own. I have a vertical mill and a bunch of 6061-T651 plate stock. The motor & ESC should be here today, as well as the outer slipper hub, so I'll likely be getting after the plate tonight. Haven't ordered another LiPo yet, but I can just steal the 3S o...

Re: Vintage toy RC; a blast from my past
Those Firebirds are nice looking little cars, Justin. While they'd certainly handle better with a different chassis, I can understand why he wants to use the existing ones. Shouldn't be too difficult to mod similarly to the way I did, though I doubt you'd have room for a vertically mounted servo. Wh...
