My very first RC... The Tamiya Grasshopper...

I have been looking around and decided I would share one of my completed re-builds. I decided to give my old Grasshopper to my nephew last christmas but I couldn't just hand it over in the condition it was in so I decided to re-build it. In went a few new parts and a cleaned up a few of the vintage ...

Hondaman's Yokomo Build #1 - 870C

Hi all. I just want to introduce myself. I'm Shawn and I have been lurking on this board for a while and have finally got my own Yokomo. Well actually I have enough to build almost 3 now. I have decided to build one as a stock 870C, a runner using RPM bulkheads, and a Works 93. This Yokomo I got rec...

Re: kyosho outrage (runner)

Like your Outrage. Simple and clean. For the beetle bodies, Parma and Proline make some. The Parma looks like the Tamiya Monster Beetle body. Proline makes 2 different ones. The full fendered one is meh to me. I like the Baja Bug one better. The Parma would be my choice though. 8) @vwjuice: Those wh...

Re: Project OptiMutt

I just weighed my 5-link Losi JRX-2 for comparison and it comes in at 2lb 6oz which roughly translates in to just over 1077 grams (1077.281g to be exact) with electronics and the stock wheels, tires, body and wing. Electronics are vintage: Losi Revolution Stock Motor, Futaba S128 servo, Futaba FP-10...

Re: Hello from sunny California..

I was thinking the same thing about putting a piece of lexan over the front of the RPM bulkhead in the front. Just think that it was dumb of them to not have that in the first place. Oh well. I still am a V8 guy at heart. I put together a 1955 Ford F100 for my older brother. That was so much fun and...

Re: Hello from sunny California..

@Coelacanth: I've read about the Optima parts interchangeability with the Yokes. Had me thinking as I am going to make one of the 870c's more of a runner. Would be nice to do since the mag stuff is brittle. One of my motor mounts has the end tab broken off. Have the front and rear RPM bulkheads for ...

Re: Hello from sunny California..

Thanks integra22t. The YZ-10 was a car I liked from the get go. I saw one at a local track and drooled. Liked everything about them and they were quick. Wanted one then but way too expensive for me to buy new. Been into Hondas since I turned 16. Used to be in Drag Racing business for about 15 years....

Re: Hello from sunny California..

Thanks for the welcome. Well the keepers are going to be the Frog and Blackfoot (I have a soft spot for the ORV chassis Tamiya's), the Fox, The JRX-2's, and of course the Yokes. I gave my Grasshopper to my nephew so it went to a good home and will hopefully give him the same fun I had with it. I've ...

Hello from sunny California..

Hello, I've been lurking on this site for about a year now and decided to sign up and join the community. I started in RC in the early to mid 80's with my Grasshopper. That was a great RC to have fun with. Bashed that around for a couple years before I moved on to my next RC. Over the years includin...
