Gotcha. Knew about the weight, but didn't know about the aluminum. I'll be gentle.gomachv wrote:the axle is aluminum
Its easy to strip the axle with steel nuts, sometimes rip the threaded part right off, and it's unsprung weight

I have to ask, why no metal on the front axle?gomachv wrote:4-40 for everything but the slipper and front axles. Don't use metal on the front axles but if you do they should be 5-40.

Deez nuts.
I really don't like these plastic nuts on my gt.
Before I run out to Home Depot later I was wondering if you guys knew the exact size/pitch so I can get them in metal.

Cut the tabb off the Futaba plug on the right to plug into any other modern system! For the switch, unscrew your switch plate, rotate plate 180, place screws and tighten! I'm not sure we're reading each other right. The new switch I got today has 3 connections. The one shown on the right in ...

Do they make an adapter for this?
The connector on the left is my new NiMh battery for my nitro rc10gt. The connector on the right is goes to the switch for the cars electronics. So its the normal place where the batt plugs in, just connector issues, because nimh batt. These need to connect, but how? Interestingly, the 3rd connector...

I found another manifold today and decided to give the porting another try. I did much better and I have to say I like my Black and Decker RTX more than my old dremel. Anyway, see for yourself. Before and after and bits used. http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e303/wr200/4500FEFB-E558-409A-9518-32B74...

Well, good news and bad news. I got it nice and ported. Looks ugly in the pic but all the aluminum inside is nice and shiny. http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e303/wr200/E03A5649-337D-4D42-88B8-61C73DC716B8-4927-000004B17D58130C_zps91bbb4f4.jpg Bad news, I made a tiny pinhole when I took off slightl...

Re: First day with rc10gt + .18 have questions...
There are several different versions of the associated pipe, yours is the rtr/rpm version. It its tuned more towards rpm than torque, but to be honest there is hardly any difference between that and the torque tuned pipe performance wise. Ok I'll just keep that one. I'm port matching the manifold t...

Re: First day with rc10gt + .18 have questions...
Man, you could write a 10+ page letter on the GT and only scratch the surface. In my opinion it was one of the greatest trucks to be conceived however. As far as the clutch in concerned a properly tuned engine wouldn't move the truck with Associateds springless clutch. Associated even offered a 4 s...

Re: First day with rc10gt + .18 have questions...
Matching the manifold port is a common mod, just be careful not to take too much off and compromise the sealing surface. You can also cut 3/8"off the end of the manifold and it will give you a bit of a torque boost. Neither one add a lot, but it works and its fee. Not that you really need a po...

Re: First day with rc10gt + .18 have questions...
Thanks for the replies. The carb seemed very loose and poorly built so today the whole engine got sent in to Hobby Services. The idle set screw did nothing at all and the glow plug leaked fuel from around its hole. Maybe I got one that was built on a Friday afternoon? So anyway, I expect to have it ...
