Re: more vintage kyosho vintage hopups and mods - 4x4 scorpi

I love the tapered drive axles, think they are very cool so I kept them, the drive washer goes and fits in place, it's metal with front face knurled, I stacked an aluminum hex ontop of that and then the wheel, metal will grip the soft aluminum hex easy enough and it has not slipped so far

Re: more vintage kyosho vintage hopups and mods - 4x4 scorpi

understood, you got the 1.55" right, these are not beadlocks, but yeah if you mean these are crawler wheels, then I get what you saying.

The SRB paddles asre great, very scale like appearance. will fit with some mod as they are 1.5" inner dia

Re: more vintage kyosho vintage hopups and mods - 4x4 scorpi

crap, I think I have lost the right location to cut from, will need to measure again and calculate when I get another possible set. I bought the 4 pcs and kept 2 and sold the other 2 to my friend as I had only needed one pair. These are VERY WELL machined, I'd much prefer the original beetle rear sl...

Re: more vintage kyosho vintage hopups and mods - 4x4 scorpi

I have pictures, will load them up on fickr with a load of other mods I did so you can see what I did. splitting the wheels in half was EASY, It took a lot of will power just to do it, I cut it with a hacksaw small blade with the wheel spinning in the lathe. Before you cut, you better calculate wher...

Re: more vintage kyosho vintage hopups and mods - 4x4 scorpi

HOTRODVW- These are 1.55" so the dia is perfect, the tires fit over well but the wheels are not wide enough so they kinda pinch at the tire on the inner ring. What I did was to remove the extra step rings on the lip of the wheel (if you know what I mean, compare this pic with the gearhead pic f...

Re: Mad Max Vehicles..

Hi, USA 1, nice ride, seen the re make of the movie, way cool, very 'retro' and interesting from the minute it started. Wondering where you got the 4 fog/spot lights from, the ones with the orange lens. they are aluminum, I seen them one time on ebay some company selling them but forgot the name and...

Re: Metal Ball Cups and Turnbuckles

you can install 3mm rod ends on the smaller than 3mm dis ball/rod ends, by first enlarging the hole to around 3mm, I, for good measure, tap the rod end with a corresponding tap, in this case 3mm tap. works fine.

Re: Metal Ball Cups and Turnbuckles

YES, it is overkill, thats too big for what you need, the best performing rod ends are the plastic ones, they have no play and absorb shock very well. The aluminum ones are stronger and great to look at. Get the standard M3 rod ends. Take a look at the tamiya avante, it has M4 rod ends, the plain al...

Re: Metal Ball Cups and Turnbuckles

I DON'T KNOW WHETHER you wanna go with the vintage look or modern, but I can recommend Tamiya black metal rod ends that go on the Toyota hilux or super champ, they are strong as hell and very scale like but are small, than you could go with any modern aluminum ball/rod ends from rc4wd or use any cra...

Re: gloss for carbon fibre?

To remove fine scratches from CF, I use brass polish, A lot of hard rubbing but it works fine, leaves a shiny surface, do this process in the end, use fine sand paper first to get rid of as much and as rapidly as you can but yeah brass polish works just fine
