Re: 3D printer for parts

One thing I think everyone should keep in mind when 3D printing parts is you shouldn't try and copy the original exactly, because the design of mass produced parts are largely driven by the manufacturing process, and often compromise the performance. Here's an example. This is not always true : it ...

Re: So why did the RC10 lose at the IFMAR 1987 again?

I had (have) an 80's Kyosho car. The ball cups would come off it you looked at them funny, even when new. Must be why they used the captured rod end so much. When I got my first Lazer I was surprised that the plastic was similarly compliant as the Rocky, after looking at my LXT and Pro SE's fiber r...

Re: So why did the RC10 lose at the IFMAR 1987 again?

"The RC10" being used loosely here, at least for '89 and '91  Well, there wasn't any "loose" usage in 1993. Just saying. The RC10 was still getting it done, several years later. The Ultima, well wasn't. If the Ultama were truly the better car, it would have maintained i...

I'm just wondering how I never noticed these before.
I've seen those clutches when I was scouring ebay for Rocky parts. They pop up every now and again, still. Wish I could get another one-way drive, though.

Re: 3D printer for parts

Don't know if it's been discussed before and this may be old hat for some, but I wanted to give this thread a tip on designing 3D printed parts for use in RC, since I've done a few parts for my RC's, and I'm also working on a 3D printing guide for my company. Mostly what I print aren't suspension or...

Re: OPTIMA MID '87 WC Worlds Spec Ltd Ed.

I raced CATs bitd (SWB then XLS) then went on an extended hiatus from RC so I missed the whole Lazer era. I very much enjoyed beating the Mids and Yokes  but I still appreciated their design and engineering. Today, I have three CATs and five Mids so I guess that says something. Anyway, from wh...

Re: OPTIMA MID '87 WC Worlds Spec Ltd Ed.

Is there a pre-order link anywhere? I want to look at the form and tell myself I don't need this. It's a lot of money for a poor man's Lazer with less tunability, but then again, OG vintage 4wd buggy prices are mostly insane now. Still a nice chassis, though, and there were several Optima Mids at VO...

Re: OPTIMA MID '87 WC Worlds Spec Ltd Ed.

I was hoping you were right about the price cut but I just checked Amain and Liquid and they still have the Mid re-re listed at $389.99 - so the price is the same. They also have stock on hand. You're probably right about the sales slow-down. The Mid has been available for a while so most who wante...

Not a FB member but someone on another mb has posted this link. https://www.facebook.com/KyoshoAmerica/ It's a clever marketing concept: meet your supplier's initial MOQ's then, to ensure you liquidate your entire inventory, announce the product months ahead of the rollout and label it "limite...

Re: Kyosho Gold Shock Parts? Where to Find New Ball Links and new Collars?

Hey guys, I have been a bit hard on my 60+ mph Kyosho Turbo Raider and I need some new parts for the gold shocks. I broke on of the links that screws the bottom of the shock to the suspension arm. Does anyone know where I can find a new one? Might these work? https://kyoshoamerica.com/ot210bk.html ...

Re: All the Lazers

I think this is what I'm going with for cable routing. It blocks the esc buttons and lights, but the cable organizers don't hit the body. I might shorten the positive battery lead, eventually.

Re: Transmitter Disassembly

Fortunately my job still swaps out customer printers and had a bunch of old Dymos in the bin. From my printer design days I recall that Dymo likes to use worm gears and extension springs (super specific industry knowledge), so I took apart a few types and one had the dark brown small spring, which I...

Transmitter Disassembly

The centering spring for the wheel on my transmitter let go this weekend. Trying to hold off on big purchases for a bit, so I thought I'd take a stab at opening this one and seeing if I can print what I need. Got all the screws out but it doesn't want to separate around the battery holder. Anyone ta...
