Re: Support your local hobby store...for this??

You can use airplane push rod tubes :) I used to use them because all the other tubes were too short. Soon there will be no hobby shops, the customer can order it themselves and get the parts for the same price delivered to their door in the same time the LHS can get it in. A hobby shop should at le...

Re: my large sanyo battery buy!

That would look awesome, modern lipos with a vintage label. I used to like building batteries, those days are gone.

All of my Sanyo 2000's are toast :( they've all leaked a bit from the vents so they are destined for the bin.

Re: my large sanyo battery buy!

I don't think anyone would expect them to perform as good as when they were fresh. With a bit of cycling and maintenance you could get them to perform quite well I'd think, especially if you tore the packs apart and matched the cells.

Re: my large sanyo battery buy!

Thats another good reason why NiCd's were great, you could punish the snot out of them and they didn't care. Recharge and recharge again and again. Zap them every now and again to break up the cell crystalization, they were bullet proof. Of course newer battery technology is better but they were goo...

Re: my large sanyo battery buy!

NiCd's dont mind a deep discharge. In the old days we used to dead short the packs, or use battery bugs. The likelihood of the packs responding and coming back to life after a couple of cycles is high. NiMh's dont like being fully discharged or left in a discharged state, so the chances of them comi...

Re: my large sanyo battery buy!

Are those Panasonic purple labels?

Good buy, luckily NiCd's have a good chance of still being good after all these years.

Re: Low Tech Solution for loose axle pins

TT stands for Thunder Tiger, they bought out Team Associated.

Roll pins are good but they have a tendancy to break with decent power. The FT pins suffer the same "frustration" being a solid pin. I doubt a 1/18 will have enough beans to break a roll pin though.

Re: Love & Hate in RC

Lastly, I hate the "air of superiority" that can come with time in the hobby, it drives people away as the people in a hobby shop (for example) are "too good" to bother with someone. It's BS- Good point. I think personally as I've gotten older and done a bit of everything in the...

Re: Love & Hate in RC

Love - Good quality well built RC equipment. Kits and components. Almost all aspects of "Vintage" RC . Racing. Well built tracks. Good Hobby Shops. Building and making things. Tinkering. Hate - Cheap crappy RC cars and RTR's. Forward cab bodies. Kits and cars that are only made for a year ...

Re: How do you display your cars, clear body or painted?

I'd love to paint all my cars but my painting skills aren't as good as I'd like them to be. I'm fussy too so that doesn't help. I'm not bad at painting, just affraid to step outside the box which isn't a good thing to experiment on shells that are near impossible to get. I either like my paint jobs ...

Re: Which old skool esc?

The specs on the Futaba MC111B are quite surprising. 100A continuous forward with 400A+ instant. Pretty bullet proof for a late 80's esc.

I'd say Novak speedys were right up there in the early 90's but have since gone downhill. Cant really go wrong with a good name brand ESC, Novak, Tekin, Futaba.

My charger has one too, so does my pickup and actually all but two of my cars have foot button high beam switch. Every car I own has a foot pedal E-brake too :D

Re: Alternative to Brand Name Lube?

Exactly, you used to get a paper roll of clips, nearly enough for two cars.

I would have expected better from Associated too.

I understand what you guys are saying and I know it's being abused, but try to find an original B4 bumper in mint condition!
