Re: Help with a Reedy quad spec 19t
i have since done a bit more reading and all the references to this motor liking a high gearing are on touring car forums. maybe that is the difference. mine is certainly happier on 21/81. i polished the comm to a mirror finish and i stick some earbuds (q-tips) in my pockets when i go out so i can s...

Re: Help with a Reedy quad spec 19t
both motor and trans spin really well and the gear mesh looks perfect. it could be a combo of lipo with the grip of new tyres on grass. im gonna keep using my makeshift lathe for now. re. vintage cars. no not really. i have not had an rc car since a tamiya mad fighter years ago. ive been keeping my ...

brushless motor and esc matching
hi i won a hobbyking 6.5 turn motor of ebay for a few euro and am looking around for a cheap esc. it is going in a b4 so i know it's a bit of a handful but that's the one i won so it's what i will have to use. my question relates to the current rating of the esc. the motor is the one in the 100a com...

Re: Help with a Reedy quad spec 19t
thanks for all the helpful replies. i did a couple of things and i think it's going a bit better. i went to a 21t pinion (standard spur). i cut the brushes down a bit. and i polished the comm to a mega shine. seems to be lasting a bit longer now and not looking so completely destroyed like before. i...

Re: Help with a Reedy quad spec 19t
it just occurred to me that the problem is possibly more apparent after i put a shottky diode on the motor. is this a possibility or am i imagining the timing of when i put the diode on? the motor was run for twenty minutes over about four days so not all together. what are some things which cause i...

Help with a Reedy quad spec 19t
Hi I have a reedy quad spec 19t in a b4. the comm is in a terrible state after about twenty minutes running. i have standard wheels and a 23t pinion on an 81t spur. the battery is a 2 cell 5000mah and the esc is an lrp ipc v6. I have attached a picture of the comm. It was in good shape to start with...

Re: tube frame for b4
i have a question about weight. what is a decent weight for a b4? with a 5000mah 2 cell and normal body it comes in at 1580g. with the brass frame it is 1770g. i know that is a pretty hefty weight increase but for bashing the brass frame looks much cooler and protects the shock towers a lot. does an...

hey man
just noticed your rebuilds. really nice clean work. i like how you put in the work and didn't bolt on loads of blue bits etc.

Re: tube frame for b4

so i brought these monstrosities for a test today and realised i have un matched wheels. so i did a light light editing and was wondering is it possible to dye white wheels to this pro-line yellow?

Re: tube frame for b4
yeah in the past i have not liked using that soldering iron method but it actually suits the body. the "rivets" could be used all over the place.

Re: tube frame for b4
i wish i had access to vacuum former. i used one a lot in college. i would need to cover it with something solid enough to resist the vacuum to get flat sides. i am hoping to work up something from flat pp sheet. btw i dont know why rc bodies are not made of pp. i have vac-formed it in to hemisphere...

don't think of it as creative. think of it as something you want but not enough to pay the price.

Re: tube frame for b4
an update on the brass frame. ran out of brass so it's stalled just now. http://i.imgur.com/gFkiKSy.jpg when i ran the wooden frame i gathered loads of dirt in the chassis so designed this frame to fit over the stock body to keep dirt out. http://i.imgur.com/DBKjIn5.jpg http://i.imgur.com/yXFSlW4.jp...
