Re: vintage stock RC10
Thanks for all the advice. Spent some time with the steering and it is better until I can upgrade. Tried a youtube trick I saw and stuck my Garmin inside the car, set for new trip and ran it down the street. It registered 22mph as max speed for trip. I know this isn't stellar, but definitely much fa...

Re: vintage stock RC10
UPDATE: Thanks for all the help guys! Ended up spending abt $120 to get it on the road...but over half was on getting a charger which could be used for lipos in the future. (Onyx 235) -went with Duratrax Mod ESC -changed to 17T Reedy Radon -and a NiMh battery for now. It is definitely a bit faster t...

Re: vintage stock RC10
Yes. 3 prongs at 90, Futaba G I think it's called. Soldering it in place of the receiver plug on the vl5 esc I thought would be a simple fix. Think the Futaba receiver is gonna have trouble with this esc? I have an extra servo with the Futaba G for a donor. Pull out my old speed control, put in the ...

Re: vintage stock RC10
Thanks Stumpy... Think I'm gonna go with a traxxas xl5 with LVC. Seems abt the same price as everything else...and will let me go to Lipos down the road. Gets a little bad press on some of the posts on this site, but not sure why. Anyone know what type of plug comes off the XL5 ESC? I need to get to...

Re: vintage stock RC10
Thanks for the info on ESCs I agree the 10 is for me...my 7yr old is eyeing the stampede. Stumpy....the Lipo charger and batts you posted seem really cheap compared to what I have been seeing. Looks like US dollars...not sure why so much price diff. Min I've seen for Lipo charger was $50. I need an ...

Re: vintage stock RC10
Would this work for running NiMh? http://www.ebay.com/itm/320A-Speed-Brushed-Controller-ESC-for-RC-Model-Car-Truck-Buggy-Boat-/330776967924?pt=US_Character_Radio_Control_Toys&hash=item4d03d7faf4 :D It's cheap enough. ? Is there a brushed speed control that will work with these motors for Lipos?

Re: vintage stock RC10
Thanks for the advice. If I want to leave the trans and stock motor alone, could someone tell me what ESC (with reverse) will work (if I go with NiMh). I know I will have to cut a futaba G? plug and attach it to any new ESC I get. Second way would be leave trans and stock motor alone find ESC with L...

Re: vintage stock RC10
Hey guys, Thanks for the quick response. So if I don't want to get smoked by a Christmas RTR for my kids, what are the essentials I have to do to my old RC10? ESC, batteries, charger...if so what do you recommend, and what can my stock engine / trans handle. Are ESC's radio specific? Do I have to bu...

vintage stock RC10
I know you guys get variations of this question often. (I've read many many threads). But often the post gets into way more $ and complication than I'm looking for. I've pulled my original stock RC10 out, interested again cause the neighborhood kids are running electric traxxas around and my kids ar...
