Re: The Evil Twin

Awesome! I woulda done the same if the other 2 GoldPans I recieved werent in MUCH better shape  The first one that I got was in such great shape I couldnt bear taking it apart so I rebuilt the tranny and left the rest alone so I could enjoy it as it sits! Keep us updated, would love to see what...

Re: The Evil Twin

Oh sweet, the evil and hopefully less abuse twin LOL. Yours might be evil, but mine apparently got in trouble alot and was flogged. Or it was more fun and therefor has more miles, either way  What are your plans for the evil twin? Mine has become a short wheelbase, skinnied track width, Bronco ...

Re: Wore out Gold Pan Bronco Buggy

Little more progress. This is a slow build for me, but its all new territory and Im tryin to cut and drill as little as possible to keep this thing as clean and straight as I can. Im not the best but Im doin what I can   I mocked everything up and sure enough, the wheelbase was about 1/4&...

Re: so, I am going to race this thing...

I've been following this thread as I have a GoldPan I would like to build into a vintage racer that can keep up with the newer guys. Good luck with it and keep it up!!

Re: Wore out Gold Pan Bronco Buggy

Thanks. I ended up cleanin out the Hobby Room to make room for some stuff in the guest bedroom we are tryin to put together so I didnt get to work on it much last night, but i did cut the fenders on the body Im using and I think Im gonna have to end up shortening the front ever so slightly. Im gonna...

Re: Wore out Gold Pan Bronco Buggy

Got a bit more done last night...now shes a roller!!! At least in mock-up form. After finishing up roughing the front, I decided to tackle the rear. I stole an idea from a couple of the Scorcher builds Ive read about and mounted the rear arms under the pan. I was going to put the mounts together to ...

Re: Wore out Gold Pan Bronco Buggy

Before last night I got in a Blah mood about the idea myself. I couldnt make it work with how skinny the body was but I couldnt talk myself into building another body with it except maybe a Beetle and even then Ide have to do much of the same work. I kept picturing this short wheelbase buggy bouncin...

Re: Wore out Gold Pan

Thanks for the heads up guys. I looked into the DS swap and would rather use parts I can get quick and easy lol. I decided to get over myself and start modding. First I mocked up the wheelbase and width roughly where I wanted it to get a look at what I was shooting for. http://img.photobucket.com/al...

Re: Wore out Gold Pan

Yeah, there was a Beetle thread on here that gave me the idea on shortening up the chassis. What Im most concerned about is "skinnying" up the track width the better fit eithe the Bronco or Beetle body. I have some ideas after some searching but would still like to get a couple more oppini...

Re: Wore out Gold Pan

Got a little time to mess around with the wore out GoldPan and got a couple ideas on what I wanna do with it, but I have some questions before I get to hacking anything up. I took the worst pan I have and the bent nose (which will get bent back in shape shortly) and got a Tamiya Bronco body I have f...

Re: Wore out Gold Pan

Well, all the GoldPans are in and I think I can decide which one will serve what purpose  The first one I got was in AMAZING condition with some nice upgrades and I literally slapped a motor and ESC on it and it was running wonderfully. I will keep it the way it is and just have some good old v...

Re: Last Gold Pan finally in, and its a Mutt

After tearing this thign down, you can tell it was a runner for sure and prolly been rebuilt and re-rebuilt several times over. It has ball bearings all around, and the tranny was in really good shape inside and out. The nose is all knicked up but the pan is in great shape minus some minor scuffing ...

Re: Finally a introduction ....Sorry it took so long....

I just had a similar experience with my first Gold Pan, it not only came in the original edinger box but came in AMAZING condition. I plan on using it tho as it was build and inteded to be used but I will save the bashing for my other, already rough buggies lol. Why is this little rig so addicting??...
