Re: Kyosho Inferno 10E build

Yeah, it's definitely laid out like a modern shaft drive buggy with the motor up front. It really does drive amazing, like "holy sh*t it's not supposed to be this good." Duratrax made ball diffs for these gearboxes, which are shared between the Inferno 10, RS200, ZR1, and I think Rampage G...

Re: Kyosho Inferno 10E build

Thanks. I do have CF upper and lower decks made by Brian. I've had to cut/drill the stock aluminum ones so much, though, that I don't want to have to do the same with the CF parts. It was a real pain in the @$$ just doing it once ;)

Kyosho Inferno 10E build

I actually built this over a year ago and made several YouTube videos about the process (below), but figured I'd post here for posterity, with a few extra pictures and commentary. This was raced at VONATS in 2019, but I made changes since then. The car had quite a lot of steering and in that sense i...

Re: What do you consider to be 'vintage' ???

Vintage depends on how old you are. If you're 15, then an RC10 B4 is vintage. If you're 40, then an RC10 World's Car is vintage. My broad take is vintage seems to generally align with what existed when you were a kid, when you look back as a grown adult. So for example, I'm 39 years old. To me, a &q...

Re: Javelin or Schumacher Cat XLS re re?

The CAT XLS is a better racer, but will certainly require more attention to detail and more finesse when driving it. Schumacher's jankiness makes AE look quality by comparison ;) The Javelin can also be very fast, especially on low grip tracks, but you may find it is not quite as adjustable. - For ...

Re: Javelin or Schumacher Cat XLS re re?

I assume you're not quite looking for digging up vintage cars, though, and are more interested in building a re-re. In that case, you're probably better off with a Top Force than either of the Javelin or XLS. Putting the diff spline issues and lack of slipper clutch aside, they're dynamically very ...

Re: 2020 West Coast Vintage Championships - Nov. 13-15 - Roadrunners R/C, Camarillo, CA

I love the idea of a Tamiya 2wd/4wd class. Lots of interesting cars (Super Astute, Avante, etc.) that would otherwise get hammered in the other classes. At GT Tuned motor would be perfect for that.

Re: How can I lock the centre one way on my yz10

Get a 3Racing 15T pulley. You should be able to find them on eBay. They are a perfect fit as a substitute for the center/front pulley and have two threaded holes in them. Put a grub screw in each and tighten down on the layshaft, using blue threadlock.

Re: Nylon rear hubs 870c

If you're having trouble finding the original magnesium hubs, you can use Kyosho Lazer ZX rear hubs as a substitute. The hub offset is very similar to the 870 magnesium hubs, plus they have more holes for adjustability. Might not be a "perfect" fit, but it should be close. If you can't fin...

Re: 3d Printed Body Molds

Using 3d printing as a template for a mold would be a good idea. The trick is getting a body scan into a 3d CAD file. Also, 3d printed surfaces are pixelated and so the translation from that template to a mold would have to provide some wiggle room for the mold to planarize the pixelated surface rou...
