Nice work
Would it have been feasible to use a steering plate on the bellcranks like Lazer has to overcome the last clearance issue you had

I was under the impression James didn't use a plastic tube on his Lazer

Re: Raced My LWB Optima Mid today
OK that makes sense
Do you still need the plastic tube attached to the gear cover with the VTS setup or does the adjustment nut fit inside the gear cover like it does on the Lazer

Re: Raced My LWB Optima Mid today
Thanks for posting that pic
So does the new layshaft do away with the yellow plastic spacer that usually sits behind the spur gear?
Why can't you use a heatsink motor plate? Looking at your pic there seems to be enough clearance for the fins of the heatsink motor plate I have on my Mid

Re: Raced My LWB Optima Mid today
Its great to hear the Mid is performing so well. Do you have any plans to make a layshaft for the VTS slipper with a shorter spring like you have for the Lazer or is I not needed for the Mid? Yes I have a new layshaft for the Mid that can use VTS, but you need to do a slight modification to space o...

Re: Triumph Discussion
Two great questions. I think you can use RB5 rear wheels. For the front, you may have to use an imperial axle to get maybe B3 wheels? The problem is nothing modern is going to fit that 4mm front axle. As for the slipper, what is the "alternate" setup? I just meant the Durango slipper setup

Re: Triumph Discussion
Just reading this thread again I was wondering if it would be possible to use the alternate slipper setup on a Lazer ZX-R MKII seeing as they ran the same spur and slipper pads as the Triumph

Re: Kyosho Turbo Optima Mid
Thats correct it goes in front, thats why it needs to be two pieces rather than one like a Lazer
I love watching a Mid take form from a pile of parts, brings back memories from back in the day when I used to strip mine now and then for a full clean and lube

Re: Kyosho Ultima Pro: 2.2" Triumph or other wheels conversi
So I found this thread listing the bits required for the conversion http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=15755 And I discovered you can get yellow RB5 front wheels to match the mesh wheels I have for the back so I think I will do the RB5 conversion either on this car or another runner Do...

Re: Kyosho Ultima Pro: 2.2" Triumph or other wheels conversi
I have a pair of Triumph axles on the way along with pieces for two of my other projects
Thanks for the tip on the bearings
I did some searching on this forum and found mention of an RB5 front end conversion but not the actual details, is there a thread this is covered in?

Re: Kyosho Ultima Pro: 2.2" Triumph or other wheels conversi
Wow that guy sure has one amazing collection! I have the same Trinity chassis as the Joel Johnson Mid, maybe I will try to build something similar down the track Another possibility for the front end is to just make spacers to sit between the inside knuckle and the bearing, something plastic that wi...

Re: Kyosho Ultima Pro: 2.2" Triumph or other wheels conversi
I think I will go with the Triumph stub axles, hopefully the wheels won't foul on the rod ends because comparing the two wheels the triumph wheel does have a different offset and makes the front narrower Are you sure about the rear wheels being different offset, I know the ZX-5 wheels are but the ol...

Re: Kyosho Ultima Pro: 2.2" Triumph or other wheels conversi
Looks like the Triumph C Hubs and knuckles have different part numbers so won't work but using the Triumph axle stubs and the altenate hole to make the front wider should work
Are there any other 2.2 inch wheels that fit the front of an Ultima?
