Re: Something more mundane, a Bandit... :) And a question.

You know what, I didn't know that!

Had I known that the front Traxxas Bandit wheels were now 2.2 I would have probably left my front end alone.

Thanks for the warm welcome, and for the little tip on the Cobra. And trust me, I have plenty of questions! I didn't know people were still building up Clod Busters, I do recall the amazing builds I used to see in magazines years ago. It never seemed like there was much original Clod Buster left tho...

Re: Something more mundane, a Bandit... :) And a question.

Little bit of progress... For some reason decided to race the Bandit at a local club, they are pretty relaxed and said it was OK to race it in the 2WD buggy category. Did a number of test runs before it started raining like this and I need to fix a few things. Biggest issue is that a rear wheel is s...

Re: == Who the Heck Are You? ==

I'm a 35 years old father of two, in terms of what I do for a job I am running a new start-up with a couple of ex-colleagues after spending the last 5 years as CTO of an online marketing company. And I've never raced an RC car in my life! Have had a Traxxas Bandit since 1997, and a Tamiya TL-01 sinc...

WOW Greenhell's chassis is great! I didn't expect it to be transparent.

Re: what I drove in Iraq and Afganistan

Impressive vehicle, looks like something out of Mad Max. Specially with your pirate flag there :)

Strange looking, looks like some sort of post-apocalyptic motor scraper.

Re: A Charger Reborn

That's a dream wagon :) I'd love a HEMI wagon any day!!! Sadly I am driving a 2.5 litre V6 Ford wagon... not that :) PS: I have absolutely no doubt that on a straight line the Magnum would beat the TPI IROC... I still reckon the IROC corners incredibly well though, so I'd fancy my chances in the twi...

Cool! And those are some structural parts too, so the strength is there :)

Re: A Charger Reborn

Coelacanth, nice :) I hope you get her running soon. I know how it feels to have a car you cherish that doesn't run anymore... Doesn't feel good, reminds me of ballad of ole betsy :) I have an IROC-Z which was my daily driver when I was a postgrad student, and for commuting for my first couple of jo...

Re: 3D printing and RC cars

jon burrows, cool, I'll search around and take a look. Halgar, awesome video there! Well the scanner is $2995, which isn't TOO bad. But Jay Leno's big printer is $15000, which is still very pricey. But there are websites where you can upload your 3D designs and they will ship out the parts made to y...

3D printing and RC cars

With all the very cool vintage RC cars that I see in this forum, and with the trouble and expense that some people go to get them as good if not better than what they would have been originally, it occurs to me that with the advent of technology like 3D printing this could get easier. Right now if t...

Re: Something more mundane, a Bandit... :) And a question.

I agree guys, the current body looks weird. The Bandit is sort of a typical older buggy which sits higher up and is bulkier than modern stuff, and to top it off it looks kinda back heavy. The swoopy new body doesn't suit the older chassis, and it just looks weird, and bulky. Oh, and the chrome wheel...

Re: Something more mundane, a Bandit... :) And a question.

Thanks, that's a good tip!

It runs OK with the slightly wider front wheels, but I would just like it to look a little closer to the original and be able to use minipin tyres :)

Something more mundane, a Bandit... :) And a question.

Hi everyone, I've been reading this forum on and off for a while mostly for the awesome photos of old RC buggies that some of you guys post. I'll be the first to admit, that I really haven't got anything to post that even starts to compare to some of the awesome older race buggies I have seen here, ...

WOW! That's a fantastic find, like one of the previous poster said. It would be a real shame to see you bashing this, not many of those around.

£10 is an unbelievable bargain!
