Re: Virgina Beach

I moved to Florida, so I haven't been there in quite a while, myself. Last I heard, they were building an offroad track. Several years ago, they had a shop closer to the Beach, with a large offroad track. All I've seen since they moved to Chesapeake was the carpet course.

Re: Virgina Beach

Here's the local track in VB. I used to live down the street from them, but I'm not sure what they have now.

I don't know what part of VB you're staying, but I could give you easy directions from most anywhere there.

Re: 6 Gear trans ?

HI!... Well I hand deburred all the gears by hand, and then ran them through a 8000rpm brass wire wheel. Very smooth. Has anyone ever takin a set of outdrives and ground off the outdrive section just leaving a steel idler gear, and then using it as a steel idler gear? Just thought it would bullitpr...

Yes, there were metal idler gears for the 6 gear tranny. I think MIP made them. I had some, and they were a pain. You had to chuck the outdrive in a drill and use automotive valve grinding compound to get them smooth. I eventually got rid of them.

seth556,
What axle blocks are using on those cva's? Could you use stock ones with those?

Nice looking ride, BTW.

Re: Russ' "New" old goldpan

Just waiting for the body and motor to get here from Tower. I'll probably wait until spring to get some new batteries and hopup goodies. My wife has been pretty cool with my spending lately and I don't want to push my luck.

Re: Russ' "New" old goldpan

Well, a bit more has been done to the car (linkages, electrics, wheels). I had to be a little innovative as far as battery mounting. My batteries are configured for my TC4, and are too long to use the battery tray. I ended up using some old body posts and cut a strap from an old bumper. With the add...

Re: Flat black and lexan

I masked and painted mine on the inside first, then painted the hood on the outside. That way, if it scratched, it wouldn't be too noticeable.

Re: This is my second Ebay score

The parts are cleaning up nicely, but when you get the new chassis, you may want to use a bellcrank linkage. The direct steering does weird things when you compress the suspension.
