Re: Painting white parts?
you'd generally want to dye plastic parts using fabric dye, but if they're already painted, you can just repaint using a rattle can. i'd guess the previous owner used rattle can, but it doesn't matter. the rule is anything can go over water based paint. only oil based can go over oil based. so oil c...

i had the same experience with two local hobby shops - after I said I wasn't interested in something more modern, one guy actually laughed at the though of my racing 'that old thing'. Yeah, Tower hobbies actually sells some stuff from the older cars, and of course you should work to get accepted to ...

Re: Another re-release from Tamiya
I do feel bad for the guys that 'invested' heavily into the retro market, but seriously, did you do it for the 'investment'. I'm sure that's what you told your wife... :D Well, just don't tell her they re-released them and for God's sake, don't tell her what you're really selling those parts for now...

so much for keeping it simple. can't wait to see it. i just picked up a T on the bay - should be arriving any day. I plan on racing it at the local track, but we'll see. not sure what your other gear looks like, but you might be best served by picking up a nice lipo battery and charger and run...

Re: new jewel
well, aluminum bits are nice looking, but in my experience with nitro cars - they just make other larger, more expensive things break instead. I'd keep the arms and ball joints plastic - they break they're only a few $$. Meanwhile, I'd practice not running into stuff. (No insult intended - just sayi...

welcome aboard. One recommendation i'd make when you find a replacement speed control is to relocate it. That location / position offers no airflow over the heat sinks and probably helped cook it. Also, whatever speed control you get, check the manual regarding capacitors / inductors before running ...

Re: Chrome Pan 10T project
I know of a guy that will plate that chassis for ya in 24K gold. Pretty cheap - maybe $50 or so (I think). The only trick is you need to chrome plate it first before the gold can be applied (not sure why, but that's what he said). I was going to keep that little tidbit for my own build but I don't h...

beware - it's addictive. you THINK you're gonna stay with your one truck but you're wrong. a couple of months ago I resurrected my old buggy. I now have RC10DS and just bought a truck similar to yours on flea bay. Keep us updated - I'd like to know what you do with it. Also, some might disagr...

Re: *Parts needed to run modern 2.2 rims/tires on your rc10*
Sorry guys, but I've read this thread about 4-5 times over the past month and I'm still totally confused. I'm looking to convert my RC10 graphite to modern racing wheels and tires while maintaining legal width. What's a cost effective way to do this?

Re: Vintage AE's RC10 graphite runner
that build looks sick - I love the gold on black. regarding the 11T double - it's more like a 11T single than anything else. It depends on the wire gauge but doubles tend to have smoother power transmission than singles but might be a bit less hot. either way, that 11T double will be WAAAAAY hotter ...

chalky finish after redying old dyed parts
Hey all, i just redyed some plastic parts black with some Rit liquid dye. They came out kinda chalky, any advice for cleaning them up a bit? I searched the forums for some time but didn't find anything regarding fixing bad dye jobs.
Thanks,
Dan
Thanks,
Dan

Re: cleaning an RC10 Graphite chassis with acetone - bad ide
good deal guys, i'll get to cleaning tonight. my wife does hair and nails, so acetone is readily available (as is the 10% peroxide I'm currently soaking my white parts in under the grow lights - it's actuallly 40% peroxide but i diluted it - didn't want to risk destroying the parts.) thanks again, Dan

cleaning an RC10 Graphite chassis with acetone - bad idea?
Hey guys, i've run across an RC10 Graphite and have pulled it apart for some cleaning. (That's right, my RC10 addiction has expanded to my 3rd RC10 in less than 2 weeks - for those of you counting at home. ) It's in what I'd call clean runner shape or perhaps a shelf queen for a less discerni...
