Thanks Jeff, is it the front that you think is a bit thick? I was thinking of opening up the pistons holes a little to 1.1mm dia. Ground clearance on these CATs isn't great so it's a bit of a compromise to get it to handle well but also cope with the bumps and jumps.

Front: 2 hole piston 1mm dia, 30wt oil, AE blue springs 4.2 rate, short Schumacher ball cups Rear: 2 hole piston 1.3mm dia, 30wt oil, Losi yellow springs 2.0 rate Got spacers on shock shafts to limit downtravel and both roll bars are...

These work well on my Procat...

Only problem is no slipper for the MMS layshaft... or is there?

That's right, you can put all sorts of goodies in. I've got a Bosscat slipper, Bosscat super diff, BRP orange belt and MMS nylon front diff in mine...



My car's a right mixture so ignore all that if you want to keep it "factory"

AE springs seem a good match for the front e.g. AE blue 1.66" long / rate 4.2 and AE silver 1.3" long / rate 3.85

Are shorter springs more progressive?

What do these spring measurements mean?

Thanks. I've fitted AE blue springs to the front. They are fairly stiff (spring rate 4.20) and the length seems better too (1.66") The Losi springs turned out to be too long (2") but I'm very curious what the stiffness of the old springs was. Cheers.

Does anyone know the spring rate on the old CAT or Procat springs? Those old Schumacher front springs had few coils didn't they, almost like a touring car sp...

Thanks for the detailed advice. Yep, I've got some nice new mini-spikes on now. The shorter ball cups really help too. I'll also change the front pistons. I've got Tamiya No 2 in at the moment (two 1.2mm holes each) but will try two 1mm holes (I'll drill some blanks) unless there is an alternative? ...

I've already cut down some Schumacher ball studs and also found some stiff AE springs that are a bit shorter (1.66" instead of 2")
