No, it is not a Frog shock. On Frog the spring is only around shock shaft and not around shock body. Also Frog shock body has "cooling ribs".

Yes, the Z-rod was not a good at all except it allowed to have faster steering = longer servo arm. But since one of the problems in (Turbo) Optima's steering was that You had use only servo/doubleside tape to install servo to somehow grease plastic "(90) Servo mount", servo was moving whil...

Could they be Team Orion cells? Didn't Peak stop their own battery matching line in mid 90's and teamed up (like Reedy, Corally and some others) with Team Orion?

Interesting pics again. Thank You for sharing them! The ZX-chassis seems to be 7-cell version, one cell seems to fit between SP-cells in to the middle of the car just in front of motor. The plastic part in front of motor "Upper Desk mount" just may need some dremeling since the middle cell...
