Gearing should be the same as the 2.2" wheels run lower profile tyres and the overall diameter is roughly the same as 2" wheels.

Yes, the old HPI Super Star wheels. HPI still make a variation of them for their Super Size cars, but they have less offset so the track will be narrower.

This is a picture of the German custom built front wheel drive cars. Suspension parts are from the Schumacher CAT.

To fit other wheels you usually do have to replace the rear axles.
I use the HPI adaptors to fit hex drive wheels to mine, any modern hex drive wheels will fit.
