Just one narrow belt will work fine in the car. My brother frequently ran his like this with an 11 Double motor (pre brushless days) and it was fine for the whole year.
As mentioned above make sure you have a bit of slip from the slipper and everything will be ok

Re: CAT belt pitch
You're right, I do seem to remember them marketing those belts as such. Come ot think of it, I think most manufacturers at some point in the old days have added "high torque" to any improved transmission part

Re: CAT belt pitch
Be careful when commenting on high torque belts as the term has two meanings. One refers to just a higher load bearing belt (as an example it's possible to have a high torque MXL belt) The second refers to an actual belt pitch named HTD (High Torque Drive). This is the large square tooth belt used o...

Re: Nikko not a true RC car?
At one point, Nikko actually got serious about rc racing and made a decent 4wd buggy called the Super Sprint. They race it at the 89 Worlds in Sydney. Later on they released (under the "Bratworks" name) two upgrade kits which features frp chassis, triple ball diffs etc etc. This is one: ht...

Yeah don't take me too seriously guys, I was just messing with ya's  They were very competative in their day, even with all the aforementioned "problems". It's funny, but I remember an article about how this car and the first Cat were conceived at the same time (referecing Mad Racer'...

Re: PB Mini Mustang. Post your pics.
Well I'm glad that Darren has spoken up about the true performance of this car, as I was just about to go on and on about how bloody awful they were  :P Besides from the small issues that Darren mentioned, I seemed to remember the whole suspension flexed like mad, and every one I ever raced aga...

Fantastic job
It's great to people modify cars like this - that front gearbox is a work of art!

Re: What your workstation looks like?
I do most of my "dirty" rc stuff out in my shed, which in the Aussie summer gets damn hot, so I moved most of my collection and regular racers into my study, which didn't please the wife too much  http://web.aanet.com.au/fir/bender/Other_files/ws4.JPG http://web.aanet.com.au/fir/bend...

Re: Your thoughts on the Kyosho Rocky abd Turbo Rocky
I wouldn't call the Rocky series entry level, as they were really the mid motor cousin of the Optima, and had comparable specs.
The Turbo came with UJ driveshafts, platinum shocks etc so it had some good gear on it.
Here's mine:

Re: Modern vs. Vintage
Must admit, I too find these type of discussions facinating :) Whilst I agree that the quality of competition cars has improved dramatically since the late 80's, I don't believe that the designs of the cars are getting much better - more just a slight evolution each year. The best examples of this a...

Re: More AYK restorations
Hi guys, Sorry to go off-topic with this thread but I was wondering if there is a simple way to clean up all the metal parts on AYK cars? I bought a used Bobcat quite a while ago (i'm a big AYK fan) and really would like to clean it up as much as possible, however I have a nerve disease in my hands ...
