Re: OG Blackfoot rebuild
sorry for the long delay in posting more, i've been busy with some other projects, including building a Kyosho Turbo Scorpion re-re. in addition to having a box of rc cars in my parent's basement for 30 years, i also had my tackle box of rc car parts. the OG 540 motor from the Blackfoot as well as t...

Re: rere Turbo Scorpion build
I believe the TS is one of the best looking 2wd buggies of all time. Out of the box, my runner car tended to oversteer on a loose dirt track so I've made some rear suspension mods to provide some toe-in options and reduce camber angle at normal ride height. you are 100% correct, it is the best look...

rere Turbo Scorpion build
like many here, i first got into rc cars in the 1980's. the Tower Hobbies catalog was well worn and dog eared, the page with the Kyosho Scorpion was read and re-read dozens of times. at that time i could only afford the Kyosoho Pegasus, a car i would literally drive into the ground. but it was no Sc...

Re: Modern 2wd bashing buggies
when i decided to get back into RC cars, i set my limit at 8 cars and built shelving... i am not sure what will go in that last spot. -Steve I used to do stuff like that. Now, I just build more shelves. It's less stressful to not have to choose. i have some other interests that like to sneak off wi...

Re: Modern 2wd bashing buggies
I have a re-re Turbo Scorpion daily runner and while I agree that it's great fun to bash around in the yard, it's far from perfect. The front axle beam tends to bend easily and can become loose and rotate which makes the wonky steering and suspension geometry even worse. I ran my car with a 3500kV ...

Re: Modern 2wd bashing buggies
the parts availability is a real concern and that is what makes the Tamiya stuff attractive as parts are easily had for the modern cars. i'm leaning toward the Tamiya Sand Viper, but Genova has my interest. not sure why, but i don't really connect with the Traxxas buggies, maybe it's because they ar...

Re: JRX Pro SE "we don't do shelfers here" build

Re: Modern 2wd bashing buggies
If you really want to relive your memories, pick up a hornet or frog. Maybe a Blackfoot or beetle. The building from kit form is fun, and they way they bounce around just makes an old timer giggle remembering the good old days. my vintage cars are a Blackfoot, AYK Radiant, and JRX2. getting the Bla...

Re: Modern 2wd bashing buggies
I would splurge and go after an RB10, but I'm kind of a budget buster by nature. the big turn off for me for the RB10 is the look. i like the classic buggy style... the RC10 has the right styling, the RB10, meh. there is also the issue of my liking brushed motors and NiMH batteries  and i ...

Modern 2wd bashing buggies
i'm looking for a modern 2wd bashing buggy. something i can enjoy running on the street and in the alley behind my house. something that brings me back to when i first got interested in the mid 80s when i was 14 years old. back then we had the Grasshopper, the Hornet, and if you busted your butt mow...

OG Blackfoot rebuild
back in 1986 when i was a young teen, i picked up a Blackfoot and proceeded to bash the heck out of it. i had a great time running and working on it, but in 1991 i put my rc cars in a box and there they sat for the next 30 years. i've decided to get back into the hobby and get my vintage cars runnin...

Re: Hello from Philadelphia, returning after a 30 year break
Welcome to the forum , looks like your going to fit in great , very lucky to still have your cars . while still having the cars is pretty cool, they were all very well used and abused. the least challenging to get back to running condition is the JRX2/T - it needed parts for the shocks and will nee...

Re: Orangemazda’s Radiant build
i'm a few years late here, but this is a great build. thanks for sharing this and providing details on parts used. I'm working on getting my well used and loved Radiant back to running after sitting in a box for 30 years. i'll be doing the diff mod as well as making a custom top plate and hopefully ...

Re: Hello from Philadelphia, returning after a 30 year break
There are plenty of radiant threads on the boards, it's quite a collectible car. I have a pro radiant mid myself. Sounds like you had the bug like most of us. Nice story and stable of cars. Whereabouts are you in Philly? There are a few of us in the northeast area, I'm about 50 minutes north of Phi...
