Re: Another A&L team truck prototype build
Took another look at the extra chassis last night and it is NOT the same as the numbered versions. It isn't drilled for the upper deck stiffener and when I overlaid the upper deck onto the lower, the holes needed break into the skeletonized pockets at the rear of the truck. The front bulkhead hole s...

Re: Another A&L team truck prototype build
Jrx2 Bulkhead? Someone liked mixing and matching, lol Oh man, this really fits my dad's personality perfectly lol! I am not at all surprised by it. JRXT/Pro front shock tower too. I read somewhere it was custom but I'll look into that. I think I need a shock tower for the second truck! Another awes...

Another A&L team truck prototype build
Hey all, welcome to my A&L Team Truck builds, I wasn't sure where to put this but since #5 of 5 is here I thought I would keep them in the same area. The trucks are #2 of 5 and what I’m guessing is #1 of 5. This is a special one for me, I’ll be keeping one in the collection and most likely let t...

Re: RC Car Action archive online - Text format available
My mom went though all the mags in the garage and organized them by year, I think they're mostly in the 89-93 range? They'll probably end up on ebay as full year lots soon.

Re: A&L Ultima build(s)
New shock day. I had four front platinums but didn't see any rears so I went with the new golds that I had. https://filedn.com/lrK7XiCxEw7LTTVXJ3axE8b/2022-05-22%2014-48-09.jpeg I'll get some proper pics later but here's a quick shot with the shocks and rear axles in. It's starting to look like a ca...

Re: gold 8-32 aluminum screw alloy?
I will say this. I have lots of screw from various RC10's. Some seem to be better quality than others. Some seem cheap while others seem to be very good quality. IMHO, its likely that they got whatever was available when they ordered them. Through all the years that they were used, it's likely that...

Sacrificed two screws in the name of science.

Science says they went with the less expensive 6061.

Re: gold 8-32 aluminum screw alloy?
Cost for dies and tooling for a project like this would be about $4000, min order QTY usually in the 25,000 range so at 20 screws per car we are talking 1250 kits. Amortizing tooling over the first run puts the kits at $3.20 COGS before part costs, packaging, shipping to distribution. Probably coul...

Lane's gallery thread
Since most of my dad’s pics are gone from his posts I’ll start adding some of the cars back up. First one is a Chris Allec special, scratch built chassis that was raced at the nats before the double decker 91 worlds car. Chris gave it to my dad to run afterwards. https://filedn.com/lrK7XiCxEw7LTTVXJ...

Re: gold 8-32 aluminum screw alloy?
I couldn’t tell you right away but I’ve got occasional access to a material identification gun. It’s what the metal recycling industry uses on the unknown stuff. Pretty accurate minus the temper. For the 70-120 price for ano on the handful of screws, I could see that. You’re not really getting over ...
