Re: Talk me out of buying a Hot Shot

Hotshot was my 1st buggy in 1985. I'm the wrong person to stop you-- on the contrary, I will egg you on.

Are you looking at a used one? Re-release?

Re: *** The official VINTAGE OFFROAD NATIONALS thread ***

Did anyone else procrastinate like me? The best rate I could get online for the Holiday Inn was about $100 a night. Someone mentioned $85 a while ago and I may be able to get a cheaper room once I actually call. I would be staying just Saturday night. Anyone want to split a non-smoking room? I'm jus...

Definitely nice pics-- looks like a great place to run vintage! 2nd annual Nats maybe?? ;)

Pretty sure that truck is a Holden Ute. The Pontiac G8 is based on that chassis (thanks Australia!) and Pontiac even threw around the idea to bring a similar vehicle to the US.

Re: *** The official VINTAGE OFFROAD NATIONALS thread ***

It's not hard... repeat after me... "There goes Mark Westerfield, your race leader"... and repeat again.... ;) Seriously I don't mind putting a number on a couple of my bodies, but others may not feel the same. (Similar thoughts on poking a transponder hole thru a body! ;) ) Vintage races ...

Re: electronic year?

The Futaba 112B ESC was around 1987-1992: http://www.futaba-rc.com/radioaccys/old-speed-controls.html
I have one and it still works nicely.

The Futaba R2GS rx was discontinued in 1985: http://www.futabarc.com/radioaccys/old-receivers.html

Good luck with the others!

Re: lipo Question

The balancer makes sure that neither of the cells is charging more than the other. If you overcharge a lipo cell it's much worse than an old nicad. It can also be used to discharge balance cells that have already been charged. Bullet connectors (I forget what size but I think you can use Great Plane...

Re: lipo Question

Ok, glad you have a power supply and any of those chargers would be good choices. I have those Trinity 4500s- you have to charge to the leads and not through the balance plug. That Astroflight balancer I posted above plugs nicely into the Trinity lead and can be used during charging and also after. ...

Re: lipo Question

Both those are decent chargers-- just keep in mind they are DC so you need a power supply. bearrickster's Checkpoint is nice too. No matter what you throw out there if you wait long enough someone will tell you 'go for it' and alternately someone else will post 'those are garbage'. The Trinity Li-Pr...

My name is Jeff, I live in NH with my wife & 2 kids and I have my own business providing contract drafting services to local engineering and surveying firms. Here's a picture of me at the local track for our 'Spring Fling' race (thanks to Maria for snapping some pics that day). Man, I need a hai...

Re: lipo Question

Keep in mind though that the mains are on Sunday, so really you're only looking at three qualifiers on Saturday. You can run the 3 quals and pick the best pack to use the next day. the 3 qualifying rounds, and the mains are all on sunday. friday and saturday is practice. Sorry- I was confused with ...

Re: the 1:1 scale car thread

aeiou- I've been looking at the Silverados. Does anyone actually ride in your back seat? I'm torn between the extended cab and crew cab-- my kids are getting older and I'm afraid they'll outgrow the extended cab pretty quick. But the price jump to crew is hard to swallow....
