Re: Do vintage factory painted chassis's have any stamp?

Acetone is my most aggressive paint eater. Often eats any nearby plastic too ;)

Re: Delta 1/10 Scale Villian Kit

we dabbled with ABC Super Hero X1 back in 1982... yeah "full suspension" didn't offer enough benefit to negate its weight & space costs in a tiny little 1/12th Same era campaigning Delta Super-Js... tried red Eagle & red PB Alpha. With larger gassers & higher track speeds, susp...

Re: Optima is back!!

Grew up in LHS back in the 1980s... which sold both T & K. Tamiya Hotshot looked great in front window & were engineered for its market segment - kiddies could bolt them together themselves & get something tough enough to bash with their buddies. Kyosho Optima didn't look all that flash ...

Re: Reshaping lexan

Lexan is usually stretched by first molding then it cools & hardens... then if you reheat it without any support, it shrinks - it wants to go back to a flat sheet! Don't bother with heatgun, too much spot heat & overspray - it always ends in tears. Or melting big holes. Last time I...

Re: TRANSPONDERS

Mylaps (née AMB) is it, if you want something reliable & work well into the future. Unique ID for each. Pricey but they seem to hold their resale too afaik. Previously there were (are?) various compatible copies &/or Clones... they'd either copy your existing ID or have a selectable ID from ...

Re: NUTPOCALYPSE 2016 CANCELLED

Sadly, it is apparent that this run will not get close to the minimum number of units needed to make this run: 1st day's total is always most of the sales, and I cannot justify the investment of time and resources needed to make these happen. dang, that's a real shame  hopefully reconsider som...

Re: Un painting jrx2 wheels

I just got a jrx2 and one set of wheels are painted so i want to remove the paint. Any suggestions? Will brake fluid damage the plastic? Thanks. some of those old wheels were dyeable which suggests they're nylon... if they are, nylon survives solvents as harsh as acetone. Best do a spot check; acet...

Re: Advice needed for painting body fluorescent yellow

Canook must be too freezing most months of the year for paint :P last time I had to squirt a rushjob at night on balcony when it's under 10deg (C!!!) I had a big long extension cord with the blowdryer on its end.

Got weird looks from neighbours peeking out their windows, but hey.

Re: Advice needed for painting body fluorescent yellow

I find if you have to use hairdryer to help paint faster, it's better to warmup the body before painting. After each coat warm the lexan again... the paint just needs time to gas off & etch in.

Re: Advice needed for painting body fluorescent yellow

Wash with warm water and dish liquid and dry thoroughly Scuff inside with scotch brite pad (is more or less better?) avoiding windows <---- Masking  Multiple light coats of first colour (yellow) Multiple light coats of backing colour (white) First coat onto raw lexan, make it a real light mis...
