Re: Maxxum FF to the lineup
I bought the Maxxum FF back in the day. I was 14 when it came out. Wow, that makes me feel old... It was a weird little car. Nobody knew what class to put it in. It handled more like a 4WD in a lot of ways, but was faster (on the right tracks). So the 4WD guys didn't want it in their class. And the ...

Re: Shocks Optima Mid Custom
This shocks should work fine. I don't think the TOMS had longer fronts. But, AGAIN, you have decent original shocks. Before you bother swapping on shocks that anyone knowledgable looking at the car will know are not original, or even period correct, at the very least just try changing the oil out on...

Re: Shocks Optima Mid Custom
Oh and a serious warning, BE CAREFUL with that battery and motor combo. It looks like those are lipo packs. Lipos and brushed motors, don't exactly work. Figure out if that ESC has a lipo voltage cutoff too. a lot of (especially older) brushed ESC, do NOT. The problem is that brushed motors can SEVE...

Re: Shocks Optima Mid Custom
Why even change those shocks??? No, they may not be the "holy grail gold" shocks, but they are what came on it. And they are pretty easy to get parts for too. They were used on the Lazer, the Maxxum FF, apparently the Mid Custom, and a handful of other cars too. Those look to be in awesome...

Re: Shocks Optima Mid Custom
I bought a set of vintage Golds for $40 on eBay. They don't HAVE to be expensive. Also the Duratrax Golds are almost indistinguishable, but more prone to leaking. If this is to be a shelf car, probably doesn't matter. If a once in a while runner, and if you can find them some proper golds. Or if a h...

Re: Difference between Novak C2, and TC2?
Alright I finally "kinda" answered the rest of my questions. First off, it appears that ONLY the 4th slot is reprogrammable. I have not 100% verified this as my C2s both need wires soldered to them, and my Pit Wizard needs the battery contacts cleaned. But staring at the documentation does...

Re: Restoring and detailing our Kyosho Collections, tips?
Yeah for sure! Simple Green has been my go to cleaner for years. I am going to try out the Simple Green Foaming Crystals stuff. Seeing some very positive reviews of it. But the point of the WD-40, Lemon Pledge, and the SCI stuff is a protective film that helps keep it clean and makes it much easier ...

Re: What Have I Got Myself Into Here?
It is most defiantly NOT an Optima Mid. It is a Lazer ZX-R with a Lazer Alpha body on it.

Re: Restoring and detailing our Kyosho Collections, tips?
The missus doesn't like the smell of WD-40...but lets you wash your car in the dishwasher? "Lets" is a relative term, if I load the dishwasher, and unload it... Now if the dishes came out all oddly covered in mud and smelling like WD-40, I am sure she would get suspicious and ...

Difference between Novak C2, and TC2?
I am slowly outfitting my vintage cars with appropriate vintage electronics. I always wanted Novak goodies back in the day, so now I am! But I have stumbled across a question that there doesn't seem to be any real information out there on. What exactly is the difference between the Novak cyclone C2,...

Re: Optima rerelease vs optima mid / Lazer ZX-S evo
What is your goal, and figure out your budget. If your goal is vintage racing and you want to maximize your investment return, a brushless setup in the Optima re-re is the way to go. The Optima Mid is the next version up from the Optima. The Lazer ZX is the next in succession. These all fall into th...

Re: Optima rerelease vs optima mid / Lazer ZX-S evo
Oh, it also depends on what your goals for these cars are? Are you trying to do vintage racing series? Or playing around? You on a track? Modern style? Or old loose dirt backyard/BMX style? One more thing about the early Lazer, they were not exactly fast cars. They had suspension geometry issues. Ea...

Re: Optima rerelease vs optima mid / Lazer ZX-S evo
Either you made some typos, or you have your models confused. You said ZX-S Evo, and NOT the ZX7. These are COMPLETELY different beasts. The ZX-S Evo was a very limited release of 200 cars in 1996, plus some factory works cars for the 1995 race season. If you manage to find one, expect to pay EASILY...
