Re: Futaba FPS148 servo
This is what I use, its what AE uses in their RTRs. It has decent speed, torque, and metal gears. There are faster servos and some have titanium gears but they cost $100 plus. Whatever route you go I suggest metal gears at a minimum. Search ebay for "Reedy 0712MG", there are sellers parti...

Re: Futaba FPS148 servo
Upgrading the servo would make a huge difference in both speed and torque. I looked up that servo and it's quite slow at .22sec @ 6v. I think something around .10sec @ 6v and around 150oz-in torque would be a "good" servo. Of course you can get faster and higher torque servos but that wou...

Futaba FPS148 servo
Apologies if this has already been posted before. Did a search but couldn't find anything. I've got a few S148 servos including one in my 30yr old RC10 I've been looking to upgrade. Upgrading my ESC and going to brushless has made a noticeable difference just driving around the street/yard. Got me w...

Re: Ebay Dhawk all aluminum components
I recently ordered the steering bellcranks in silver to upgrade from the original plastic and have been very happy. Main downside is that they ship from China so it took a little under two weeks to arrive. Very happy with the quality and steering now feels much more responsive. They look really nice...

Re: Question about RC10 rebuild costs
If you want a bulletproof runner then get something new that your hobby shop stocks spares. That way you don’t have to worry when you break it. As for your RC10 just stock up on rear arm mounts, steering knuckles and uprights. Those are the items that usually get broken in the course of running. Th...

Thanks again. This is all really helpful. You've convinced me to look into something more recent. It's great to have a place to learn from folks here. I've been learning a ton!

Re: Question about RC10 rebuild costs
Thanks everyone. that's all very helpful. I have a mostly original RC10 from 1990 and added a stealth transmission and upgraded to bearings a few years later. It didn't take much to get up and running again and I mostly just miss the building (esp with all the shelter in place time I've got at home ...

Re: Help with ID on a vintage RC10T body
Hi Everyone. Dug out my old RC10 truck conversion from 30 years ago and was thinking of getting a new body since the old one has cracks. This is what the current body looks like - I prefer this style with the sloped/smooth back and can't seem to find anything online that looks like it. Can anyone h...

Question about RC10 rebuild costs
Hi Everyone. This is probably a hard question to answer, but I'm interesting in doing a rebuild and was wondering if there are any general recommendations re: where to start. I just restored an old RC10 and realize that the costs of finding the individual parts add up quickly. For those of you that ...
