The Charlotte, NC area has a ton of off road tracks and a pretty active community. The oval concrete tracks are all gone (The Hobby Stop / Grove & King).
Atlanta has some drag racing, but little else.

How light could you get an RC10?
I spied a 380 sized brushless motor rated at 4400kV and it got me to thinking that the beginner Tamiya cars came with 380s... Then I stopped and realized that 4400kV is a fair amount of power and if the rest of the car was made as light as possible... Might be an interesting experiment. Any other id...

Re: Team Novak is closing it's doors.
It's funny how a brand will dominate a geographic area. Novak was very popular / the dominate brand in the "Metrolina" (Charlotte, NC) area. Being cost conscious, some racing classes even mandated Novak branded equipment (when the competition came out with adjustable electronic timing) to ...

Indie feature film: The Hobby Stop
A few years ago we shot a feature length film at The Hobby Stop in Rock Hill, SC. After a much-too-long post production process it is finally finished. The movie is a dramedy about a young man trying to get back to college after taking four years off to run the family business: the Hobby Stop. http:...

Re: rc10l
You might try The Hobby Stop. They have a concrete oval and a wall full of new and vintage pan car parts.

Re: Cheap pan car for these bodies?
All modern pan car stuff is narrow chassis for oval as touring cars have completely replaced 10th scale pan road racing. World GT is an attempt to bring it back, but it is also narrow.
What you want is a non-super speedway RC10L. They pop up from time to time on the bay.

I'll probably give it a try though. Loading it up with heavy diff lube and running it very loose would be an interesting experiment if nothing else...

Hydra drive and new technology
OK, so the Losi 22 seems to be generating 10th scale mod buggy interest at the local track and I have enough parts to build a black tub RC-10 or refitting a built JRX-2 (5 link, original trans) with a new body. It dawned on me that somewhere along the way I picked up enough parts to build a few hydr...

Bullet Proof XXX-4
XXX-4s are bullet fast but fragile, right? I posted this years ago and thought I'd toss the link to it instead of retyping it. With just a few steps I made my bullet fast XXX-4 bullet proof. Since performing these mods I've only broken one other piece, the chassis. (Mamba 4300kV and a 3 cell LiPo is...

Re: Losi JRX2 help identifying front metal bulkhead
If you're worried about breaking front bulkheads I have a far easier solution... Pull out one of the front hingepins and take it to the LHS's K&S Stand and buy the same diameter as the pin. Take it home, measure it out and chuck it in a vice to bend it. The goal is to make two bends to form a st...

Re: JRX2 5-link racer build
Glad to see another 5 link runner. Watch for rear shock ends and buy them of you come across new ones. The original shocks would leak and if a car was stored for years the oil would leak out onto the shock end and rot them. You should replace the steering rack with the aluminum bellcranks you got wi...
