Re: Post your vintage PRINTS here in the vintage RC Photo Album

Found an old photo from mid-late eighties of my A-stamp Edinger.

Re: Can nylon be painted

Ive been slowly collecting parts, polishing old metal parts, anodizing aluminum and titanium, dyeing or redyeing parts. It seems like every time I make a "complete" order I want twice as many more parts. Guess it will never be finished. It is sunny today and that is what my camera likes. A...

Re: Can nylon be painted

Thank you xlr8!
I really appreciate your kind words.
I guess a dipped car isn't everyones cup-of-tea but I really like the look.
Unfortunately I may not have the painting skillset that others on the forum possess.

Re: RC10 Graphite resto

If the chassis is bonded with "resin" it is probably is polyester resin. I recently asked a good friend and excellent body man the same question about filling scratches on the underside of my graphite chassis. He never saw the chassis but with little hesitation he suggested 2 part spray au...

Re: Servo Savers?

I took my time before sending my S6240 Spektrum in for warranty but a mere 3 weeks after sending it in I got it back.
No more rattles!!! Horizon sent me a new servo. I haven't even put the cap back on the receiver yet. Works great.

Re: Can nylon be painted

It took me a bit, but I've gotten some fairly satisfactory results.
The first "dip" did not go well, so i had to strip and start over.
Basically I sanded, used adhesion promoter, dipped the wheels and cleared coated them.

Re: Tomorrow I Race Again

The cab forward design never really appealed to me. And I've tried some fairly ugly bodies in the past. I had, what I think I remember, was called an "Alien" on my RC10 for a while, (edit) and I found it. I really like your Jocncepts body however, looks great. The paint also looks very nic...

Re: Can nylon be painted

Thanks Zac_F71 Any tips? light sanding for mechanical bond ? Best primer? I realize dyeing is a durable option. I've dyed many nylon parts for a long time. I ordered JC racing wheels and may try to hydrodip them to match my paint. Not for dirt or bashing. Shelf or possibly, possibly carpet. Chuck

Can nylon be painted

I can't find any good references on priming or painting nylon.
Has anyone had any luck or experience?
Tamiya had a special primer for polypropylene, nylon, FRP and other similar materials.
It seems to be discontinued.

Nomad
Seeing your track, very nice, stirred some memories of when I first started smashing a controller button.
I dug up my old cars and had to share.
They may be older than most, save a few old dogs, forum members.
And what about the paint on those beauties?

I'm not sure, but I think that truck may be to big for that track.
I've got some that might be the right size

Re: ??? Hydrographics ???

I took a portion of the wicker bill from the first dip and bent, folded, spindled and tried to mutilate it. Not much luck tearing it up. The film and Parma Fascolor stuck tenaciously. The sequence of paint was: Film, 3 coats of yellow Parma Fascolor and a light coat of black Parma Fascolor. Digging a...

Re: ??? Hydrographics ???

Basher
It could be a little easier with a B6 type body.
It appears as though it may have fewer nooks and crannies.
The roof section is where mine was pulled the thinnest.
Can't wait to see your try at it!

Re: ??? Hydrographics ???

The next items I used were the film. The film was purchased from a vendor on ebay. The activator. Hydrovator from the same ebay vendor. A container of 90 degree rainwater from my rainwater collection system, tap water is fine, but all I've got is rainwater. The film has two sides. One side has a sol...
